POLL: Airline Question - More Legroom or Cheaper Ticket Price?

I am for the cheaper airline price. I do like AA's more legroom but if there is a $50 difference or if I can get miles, I will go for price. Get to the airport early and ask for the emergency row seat.

I want both!

And lower taxes! And more government services!

Seriously, I hadn't heard that American was undoing their policy, but it doesn't surprise me in the least. Airline tickets are sold by price, price, price. It was wishful thinking that people would pay more for more legroom. I had a feeling this would happen, especially with the industry in the shape it's in. They need all the revenue they can find, and if that means packing more passengers into the fuselage, that's what they're gonna do.

I'm so cheap, I'll choose the cheap ticket. Most of the time that I flew, I was lucky to get free seats or they had me fly with Delta. Most of the seats in Delta were free and I even got to watch movies. However, if I must choose AA, then I'll rather pay more. AA was a nighmare. My legs hurt like crazy when I flew with AA. And it didn't help that they had the passengers' seats all taken or that I chose the window. I won't sacrifice my long legs (I'm 6' 1" tall) like that. That would be cruel and unusual punishment. But if it's with other airlines, I'll take the cheap tickets.

I'm not sure though with Americans adding so much weight and forcing the airlines to raise their normal weight, I may have no choice but to pay more for tickets than I would have before. 🙁

Depends on the length of the flight, but, 99% of the time cheaper ticket would be ok. Also, it depends on the actual tradeoff. Probably saving $0 (nothing!) now (they are likely NOT cutting prices). Instead you'll just be getting told you are paying less than you would be if we had kept the more leg room.

Frankly the leg room is a crock. That's not really the problem, it's the seat width and shape, they suck. And don't get anyone started on the reclining crap... too late... what difference does it make during takeoff and landing to be 1deg difference? Rediculous!

Unfortunately, the only option you have is 1st class and after you give up an arm and a leg to fly it you'd have more space back in coach anyway. 😉

I only fly from NYC to Ottawa(80-90 mins) and i would fly standing up, if it would only cost me say 50 bucks instead of the regular 250 bucks.

The subway in nyc is always packed, so you get used to standing up during your whole commute.

I personally am willing to pay 10% premium for AA for their leg room.
The problem is that the way people buy tickets now is just look at the price.

Another thing..... What's with charging me almost 100 dollars in taxes for a 160 dollar fare?
