Yeah, Advil/Motrin should be one option. Aleve should be another.

And what kind of pain relief are we talking about? Headache? Muscle pain?

Thank you. Try putting in their actual ingredients into the poll instead. Make it:

Aspirin
Ibuprofen
Naproxen
Acetaminophen

Change the poll to acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, and aspirin. The rest are just brand names.

EDIT: Seems I was beat ot the punch.

For pain, Aleve all the way. That is what my orthopedic surgeon suggested and it works for me.
For plain headaches I usually go for Tylenol.

What do you guys prefer for pain relief.

Edit: Over the counter medicine.

Excedrin owns!!

excedrin is acetaminophen + asprin + caffiene

also, excedrin extra strength (notice there is no "light strength" or "regular strength" any more) is the EXACT SAME in ingredients as excedrin migraine, even the same milligrams. People will pay for hope!

anyway, i prefer ibuprofen. I used to prefer acetaminophen but that is BAD for you if you drink, which I used to do a lot. I still take it with cold remedies, like Tylenol Sinus or whatever. Naproxen screws up my stomach.

acetaminophen is bad for the liver if you drink too much.
ibuprofen causes stomach bleeding.

pick your poison.

Naproxen sodium for joint/muscle pain at night so I can sleep (works all night). Excedrin (or better, the generic equivalent) for headache. Ibuprofen or naproxen sodium for pain during the day. Acetaminophen doesn't do anything for me by itself (pretty common complaint for women.)

Had a brain injury, constant headaches...the light-weight for me is Tylenol 1 (Acetaminophen + Codiene + Caffiene)

Ibuprofen is the only one that actually seems to affect me.
I really don't care what brand it is. When I'm at home, it's pretty much always Walgreens or Shopko or some other generic brand.
