Which one?

Nikon 990 Coolpix $1060.00

Casio QV2300 $800.00

My main concern is storage and image quality.

What I know so far is that Casio QV2300 (2.11 Megapixel) Digital camera contains advance IBM micro harddrive (340MB) which can hold 400 (1600 x 1200), 1700 (800 x 600) or over 2000 (640 x 400) images.

The Nikon 990 (3.11 Megapixel)camera is nice too...but, it only contains a measley 8MB CompactFlash card which hold up to 10 images in 1600 x 1200. But, I know what Nikon is famous for...their quality image.

Please give me your opinion on these 2 cameras and post a poll. ;)

Need to know soon.

those were my concerns too.

if the most important thing is image quality, the 990.

the nikon is much better than the casio. ;-)

me, i settled for the sony cybershot 505v. ;-) excellent optics, and cheap memory ;-)

--

when i was doing research into getting a camera, i read that the initial release of the microdrive had HIGH failure rates. so sure it's gonna hold a lot, but a messed up drive is a messed up drive.

actually, i was looking at casio's 3 megapixel camera ;-)

--

don't forget that you NEED more than one piece of storage, and batteries nEo. ;-)

i'm still trying to get more $$$ to get a telephoto adapter for my camera =) 5x optical is not enough dammit ;-)

Trust me...you won't be taking too many 1600x1200 pix..go for the Nikon...even the 950 and buy an extra memory card..... and batteries.

I figured since you clowns think it's so funny to piss all over the board, you would get a real kick out of this:

It is fixed up now.

I have the coolpix 950 and I love it! I would go with the Nikon and just get a smartmedia card, the 48mb one can cold 98 pictures at 1600x1200 on my cam.

Canon S100 Digital Elph also supports the IBM microdrive but it, must be purchased seperately.

I found an interesting link where several hundred of users voicing their opinion about the IBM micro drive: IBM Micro Drive

Why I posted these 2 cameras is because I get a chose to own one of them.

Many were saying that if you have a micro drive that was made in Thailand, you'll have problems with it. If yours was made from Japan, no problems..whatsoever.

I'd say go with a Sony cybershot, but since you dont have it as an option, my vote goes to the Nikon.

You know, it's all what appeals to you. I foamed over the Nikon's for days. I ordered the Olympus C2040 yesterday. ;)

I got the Camera, 64MB Smartmedia card, USB smartmedia reader, Maha battery charger, 8 1500maH NiMH batteries ALL for $718 + shipping!

This was the appealing article that sold me. Steves-Digicams.com

Neither, I'd get the Panasonic PV-SD5000

its a 3.3MegaPixel (USB bus) camera that has a LS120MB floppy drive built in (also compatible with normal 1.44MB floppies)

It's referred to a the SuperMavica

It also comes with a coupon for a free IDE LS120MB internal floppy drive.

Those superfloppies (for high res photos) & normal floppies (for low res/compressed photos) work out as a much cheaper interface than memory sticks or flash cards, by a country mile.

Also if you plug it in with its USB cable, its detected as a removable LS120MB drive (by Windows & any other OS that's LS120 compatible, including MacOS, BeOS, Linux) & you can drag 'n drop into it or out of it, just like any other drive in 'Windows Explorer'.

There's a cheaper version with a 1.3MegaPixel lens called the Panasonic PV-SD 4090 , I think its bigger too.
