There's like 0.1% chance of freezing in my system in a week... maybe if I shake the pci cards with my fingers while the system is on it might freeze.. other than that, I've ran it for 2 weeks without a hitch on WinME.

I run Win98SE on a custom rig.

Athlon 550, Asus K7M, Voodoo3, SBLive! Value, Linksys LNE100TX NIC, ATi TV-Wonder, RealMagic Hollywood Plus, 384MB of Micron PC100 2-2-2 RAM, Pioneer DVD Rom, Yamaha CDRW, IBM 75GXP and a Fujitsu 5400RPM...that's about everything important I think.

The only time I can remember crashing is when I'm messing around with drivers. My system is very stable. Lately I've been turning it off daily because electricity cost in Calgary is suppose to triple in the next month ouch...:|

But for all of september and october I left it on 24/7 and rebooted maybe once every week or two when system resources were very low.

I don't think Win9x is a great OS, but I firmly believe that these people that crash all the time have some messed up configurations and driver conflicts, or they are using cheap low quality parts *cough*abit*cough*

W2K.... 3 days and running, before that it was ~2 weeks without a reboot. the only reason i had crashes lately, my damn WINTV installation went less then smoothly🙁 required an hour or so of work, and a little PCI card slot swapping. to the tell you the true... i haven't had a full blown lockup since i installed W2K(not o'cing related)

running win98se, usually have to reboot once a day and i turn my pc on in the morning before school and off before i go to bed so it isnt even like i am running it 24/7.

andrey: That is, if they can get what a freeze or BSOD is. I bet they ask if its some kind of buddy list....😀

I've seen everything crash including linux and win2k but i have had win98se up for over 8 days and win2k for almost a month. Basically my machine doesn't crash if i don't want it too. In win98 too few resources can vbe a problem though.

For the guy who wanted to see a bsod if you run win98 goto run and type in /con/con and see what happens. MAke sure you save your work etc before you do this. 😉

*legal Disclaimer*

I am in no way responsible if the ensuing bsod screws up your machine.

mine froze for the first time in a while yesterday. I haven't figured out why yet.. it's never done that before. oh well. I'm running the original Windows 98.

Freeze up? That's pretty difficult to do. Some programs cause crashes- Easy CD with a bad CD reading. Gozilla is a bug-ridden POS. I don't remember any complete freezes, though a lot of rogue rubbish I have to End Task of.

Uptime for win2k system 426 hours strait. rebooted cause I wanted to install linux. So zero lock up for me in either case.

Just to improve and fix the bug
at least MS is working on known bug and improvement of MS OS.
that is better then not have any update

So far:
none w/DOS 6.2
Too many to count with W98
Crashed the INSTALLATION of win ME, never tried again
None w/ W2K
None w/ Red Hat Linux
