Hey guys, pulled this off another thread cause it's done I think:

I've been buying up components for a Photoshop system, (G400max dualhead, win 2K, 784MB Crucial Cas2 memory etc,) planning all along on the a7v133 for it, with a 1.2 266 FSB...and now wondering if maybe I should just jump ahead for when I'll be building it (April 20) and do DDR now, swap the memory, go 1.33 cpu and a board like MSI K7T 266PRO recommended elsewhere...the cost isn't that much more, but the question is: is it worth it in the 2D performance I'm after, in your opinions?

Thanks a lot! :)

i'd stick with what you have now... if you didn't already have 700+ megs of good quality sdram, then it would be a tossup, but considering you already do have it, just go with the sdram system. The performance difference from DDR won't be worth the price of starting over again with new components.

thanks, appreciate your thought...but Crucial will take the memory back, I haven't actually received it yet. they said just refuse shipment, they'll credit my CC, then I could order DDR...so does that affect your answer, since I won't get burned on the mem?

i would rather to use DDR with the Palomino

I think SDRam is up to par with DDR if you overclock to 150FSB
