simple. there's been many polls between the 7800GT and the X1800 XT, but not between the 7900GT and the X1800 XT. What do you guys think? the 7900GT runs cooler, but the X1800 XT is cheaper and compatible with more coolers.

yeah its mainly based on performance, but i was just pointing out the other differences. the benchmarks show that x1800xt is better at COD2, and the performance otherwise is really neck and neck. here's a link, just go through the pages for more benchies:

using tomshardware's new interactive VGA charts, a 7800gtx extreme=7900gt so pit that up against a x1800xt and you'll see also.

7900GT owns. and then you run 2 in SLI, which is of course a more mature platform than Crossfire (though ATI are making progress in that respect)

OCing the 7900GT will be great. besides, it runs cooler, single slot and QUIET cooling and sli.

i think that the nvidia drivers are MUCH better than ati's...ugh. i cant stand their drivers.

IMO.

7900 because it's a more power efficent system and because i don't know of any company with anythink like eVGA's warranty for ATI cards.

actually, as long as you carefylly remove all traces of the conductive ink, and put the stock HSF back on so it looks like it did when you got it, warranty is still good.....

That's immoral, illegal, and shouldn't be discussed on AAT.

The issue has been brought up numerous times before.

If I buy a piece of hardware and overclock it; I accept any and all risks of it failing [With an exception of the motherboard, as it is built to run at higher frequencies..]
This means that my CPU and vide card... I'm 100% willing to lose them for my 30-40% increase in performance.

If you aren't, you shouldn't be overclocking.

Don't screw with stuff you can't afford to lose.

X1800XT. Much of the same performance for less. What's more, you can even buy one if you wanted.

if this was posted on sunday, i would've immediately said 7900GT. i would've bought on in a heartbeat if any were available. with a stroke of luck though, i waited and found a sapphire x1800xt 512MB on newegg for $309 -- that's $15 cheaper than the 7900GT, and it lets me play any game full-blast on my 1680x1050 resolution. i don't care much for a few frames, but i do care whether i can use the full awesomeness of widescreen... :)

Hey, i never said you SHOULD do that... merely could. however, I do believe the charge brought on you would be fraud....
