now that Doom 3 was finally released and we have had some official benchmarks to see how they will perform on Half-Life 2, i am wondering what people are leaning towards.

no need to get into explinations and start debating the features and benchmarks of each card. just vote for the one you would get if you had to choose right now....

I'd say the 6800GT, but if you like to play games at really high resolutions with lots of AA & AF, the X800 Pro may be the better bet, if it's cheap enough.

Most people will say that the 6800GT "blows the X800 Pro outta the water" & other nonsense, but once AA & AF are applied, the race is very close.

That being said, i am planning on getting a 6800GT since i'm not interested in modding, & i am able to get a good deal on it.

Both cards are considerly faster than their predesscessors and you'll be happy with either.

Nah, the GF3 was great and so was the GF4 series.

The GF5 series is the one they screwed the pooch on.

I would have to say 6800 [plain, non GT]

From what I have heard/seen, it runs Doom3 Amazingly well and shouild be able to more than handle HL2

I'd get the GT since they're both at the same price. If the X800Pro was a priced more appropriately at around $299.95, I'd swing that way.
