Pictures for comparison purposes?

No camera advanced enough to capture the enormous beauty of light pollution currently exists.

And the human eye can?

He's being sarcastic..

My sarcasm meter is operate within acceptable parameters, but thanks for the news brief.

I can't believe this is even close.

I spent one summer in Alaska when I was 21. I was working as a bartender, and I would work until 11, then get off and go mountain biking until 1 or 2, then go home and drink with friends, THEN go to bed. I loved it. I actually thought it was remarkably healthful having permanent daylight (though I imagine it would take its toll eventually). On the other hand, permanent darkness = no energy and essentially constant depression. Thanks but no thanks.

Sunlight, not so much because I like it for its aesthetics, but because it is a good energy source. Solar power would be utterly abundant then, not just for less than half the time. Plus, the costs of indoor lighting would skyrocket, as would heating costs. All kinds of nastiness.
And it's not like I go outside that much anyway, so it wouldn't really matter to me.

daylight. reasons:

1) saves energy
2) if it was always night time i wouldn't be able to do a lot of things i like, such as go to the beach.

daytime 24/7. golf season would be incredible!

i've often dreamt of playing on a golf course with lights, sort of like they have for the Battle of the Bridges TV events.

sometimes when it gets too dark to play, a solitary tear meanders down my cheek as i walk to the clubhouse with my head down, kicking emtpy beer cans and letting my pouty lip hang for all to see.
