Within the last few months the Dems have really pi$$ed off a lot of voters. Showing disrespect for the opposition party is one thing, showing disregard for doing their job is another. These congressmen and senators work for the people, not for the party. Republicans should do the same. They are all public servants and should start serving the people that pay their wages and perks. The political parties do not pay their wages.

Walking out and filibustering to delay progress can not be in the best interest of the people. They already have more time off than any other public servant and complain that they don't have time to get everything done that needs done. Watch Cspan on cable and see how many of them are present for discussions, hardly any. Even when voting takes place, many are absent. Look at their voting records (not how they voted, but if they voted). No bill would be complete without many unrelated riders. If you favor the main bill, you must accept all the other crap and pork.

Wake up America! Remember how these servants are doing their job and fire the ones that spend all their time bitching, bellyaching, whining, and crying about what happens to them and the party. They show little concerns for the people that hired them. It not should matter how long they have been in office. If they are doing a good job, rehire them, if they are not, hire someone else.

it's not a texas issue, this has happened nationally for decades, probably before Texas existed.

Excuse me, this is the TEXAS STATE LEGISLATUE. not the U.S. Congress or Senate.
This is an internal State level conflict designed only to remove 5 Democrats from Fedral
Office, which will in turn allow the re-drawing of districts and assigning Republican lawmakers
to those positions so they can eventually place an additional volume of Republicans into
the U.S. Congress. It is much more complex that it's outward appearance.

We should just not vote, that would solve this whole thing. I mean what is the point if the redistricting doesn't occur and the democrats take control, all the republicans need to do if they ever want to block something the democrats are doing, they can just say "fvck democracy, lets go hang out in Oklahoma for awhile."

Sad. The redistricting might be b.s., but you don't spit on democracy by walking out of your job until it blows over. You publicize it and let the voters decide if the redistricting was b.s. by not electing those that supported it. This sets a bad precedent, that if you are in the minority and you want to block something, all you have to do is walk out for a few days. Maybe this has happened before, but I think there should be a rule against it, if there are so many days without quorum, the deadlines are extended or something. I'd be just as angry if the republicans decided to crap on their state too. Its childish, its locking yourself in the bedroom so you don't have to do your chores.

They don't need voters anymore...they aren't doing their job. Its pointless to vote for them, they'll lose their representation because the ones they voted for aren't at work...:|

So you would prefer the state of Texas to continue to be misrepresented for anotehr 8 years in DC because of the past 130 years of democratic jerrymandering?

State of Texas goverment is heavly republican.
State of Texas has 2 republican senators.
State of Texas sends more democratic congressman to DC than republicans. You can thank jerrymandoring for this.

The Republicans reopened a contentious issue that was supposedly settled in 2000 by independent parties. They had the vote so they decided to shove it down the Demo?s throat. The Demos denied them a quorum. Who is at fault. It's all I me me mine. Lets go back and find who cast the first stone. RIGHT!

He got the most legal votes in Florida. The Supreme Coup kept him out of office by stopping the vote count. Bush lost. the whole state is already gerrymandered out the ass, now that the republicans are in charge they change it to how they want it and the democrats subvert the constitution of texas and walk out? this is the second walk out, the first was also by dems, they hid in a west austin apartment. 200 bills died because of this walk out. 200. its going to take a long damn time to fix it. maybe i can get an amendment passed to the texas constitution that would prevent this...
