I've got no info to work with here. Man was seen with a gun, officer responded... they shot each other.

I will ask this though, do people have a right to self defense if an officer starts shooting? I mean... if a guy walks up, pulls it it out and opens fire. Do you have a right to respond in kind? Not saying that's what happened here, but since we don't know - it remains a possibility.

How armed men approach each other, how a shooting starts, is everything.

How did the other 200 police who responded to the incident manage not to kill the perp? This one is an anomaly that should be studied further.

I guarantee those two cops wouldn't have gotten within 100 yards of that alley, and not without the SWAT team and an armored vehicle if they knew that any of the people they were approaching had a weapon. I'm sure it was a gigantic "Oh shit!" moment when they encountered the guy with the rifle.

cops trump all self-defense laws...even if they strike you first.

you're just a criminal your crime is not yet determined.
