I just donated.. And I told the guy that.. and he says, 'Nope, you actually donated last year.'

Argh.. Last year was like a month ago!

Then he says, "Well I'm going to send you a 2009 packet anyway.. Be sure to display the decals on the back of your car to let the officers know that you are involved in donating. They will see it every time they are behind you on the highways."

It's like they're trying to underhandedly say, "Police will give you preferential treatment."

It's crazy how many cars you see with the decals on them in FL.

We had a gang of scammers in the next state arrested for calling for donations for State Patrol, Deputies, Veterns, Handicapped, Blind, Etc. They get one "Mark" to donate and then hit him with multiple calls.

That is the reason why i have never donated to any of those organizations. Once you start donating, they will continue bugging you for more money.

Most of these organizations are scams. When I get a call or junk mail I check in with the local cops, give them the details, and then I donate something directly to the cops. Works nicely for me.

Yeah, I saw a special on 60 minutes about these "police" organizations. About 10% of the donations actually go to police or their families.....

We get this group that calls ALL THE TIME. Worse is it shows up as the police department, so you kinda want to answer just in case it's something serious. Probably illegal.

Even worse, the do not call list exempts them, like the exempt pretty much everyone else. The DNCL is a joke. If the phone rings around supper all the way to the time I go to bed and it's a number I don't recognize I don't pickup. That or I answer as a pizza place to screw with them. That's always fun.

Did the cops give you decals for donating?
