- they were defending themselves from loud music (and celebrated the successful defense by ordering pizza)
- they were defending themselves from opening the door to a drunk woman looking for help (it was a home invasion!)

I wish we knew / had video of how this man's encounter with officers started. Them getting physical may be reasonable, it may not be. No way to tell just from the video showing how it ended. What's important is how it started.

Hopefully, we get the full story. If he died from complications after being legally restrained, well tough shit. Don't get combative with a police officer responding to a call about your family.

They are saying there might be surveillance video of the altercation. I am not taking the police's account as gospel, but I am sure not taking the wife's either. This is a women who acted in a violent enough manner that someone called the police for an altercation she had with her daughter.
