I've been trying to get a sense of how legit this company is and was hoping someone here could help.

Polar Backup has been running a deal for 1, 2, and 5 TB of online storage for life for a few days and I've been considering pulling the trigger.

I'd be backing up family photos/videos and some documents. I currently use Carbonite and am happy with them, but the price for Polar and a lifetime, one time cost vs. a subscription has me on the fence.

Anyone have experience or insight into this company?

Why do people put any faith in the 'for life' claims?

I don't understand why people put any faith in the cloud as a storage medium. I'm not a tinfoil hat guy, but putting all my data out there, no matter how sensitive or proprietary, is a fool's errand.

As far as 'for life'... that usually means the 'life' of the specific company, not necessarily yours. ;)

POSSIBLE SCAM?

As per an earlier post Polarbackup is owned by the same person who owns Zoolz. Both companies are based in the UK but neither complies with the UK 2006 Companies act in giving their company details which makes tracking them down a bit more tricky.

Zoolz has just cancelled all of it's lifetime plans. Taken the money and done a runner.

Polarbackup is new and offering the lifetime plans that Zoolz used to offer.

You can form your own opinion on what might happen next........
