Poker, who here plays.

I was wondering how many of you play. I love the game and i play multiple tournies a day, hit up the cash and turbos quite frequently also. Who wants to go to the WSOP with me ? 🙂

I'm bored so i made a thread to find other people who enjoy poker. (no flame 🙂)

Texas hold'em is the only pure game left.

Every once in a while we get together for a poker night. I'm pretty good at Texas Hold em but anything else I just plan on gettin lucky.

5 and 7 card draw/stud, Daytime and Nightime Baseball, Hold 'em, etc. Have fun but I don't play enough.

whenever I get together with my male friends, the deck of cards and our cash inevitably get pulled out.

but I don't really go out of my way to play online or in any type of regularly scheduled poker game.

i used to play online some, but now i do'nt b/c of the laws.....

btw are there any reputable poker sites that are still available to US residents?

I play on Full Tilt, that is a good site.

My personal favorite is pokerstars.com

online poker != real life poker. I play in real life every week, usually take home around $200-300/week, but lately I have been busted out rather early into the tourney, can't even make it to the final table. Do people go thur slump like what I am going thur right now? how do I stop it?

Yes, slumps are the normal the life of a poker player.

How to fix slumps:
1) Stop playing.
2) Stop going all in with a  hand.

Anyone wanna show lil' ol' me how to play Hold 'Em? I'll bring cash... and dont worry, I have my own chips... even though I know nothing... 😛

You just have to work through it, make sure you're taking a good honest look at how you're playing, where you might be going wrong. Happens to us all.

I've been playing online for a while now. Definitely not like real life poker, but you can learn a good bit from it regardless. I usually play on RiverStars (PokerStars) up until now play chips only. However, I'm putting in $25 and if I lose it all, that's it. I'm decent enough of a player that I should be able to keep even, maybe even come out slightly ahead. And yes, I would love to go to the WSOP. I'd probably be knocked out almost immediately, but the experience of it all would be worth it.

I play. I play Hold'em, but I love playing Omaha Hi-Lo, 2-7 Triple Draw, Stud-8, Badugi etc..

I played in the $1500 NL Hold'em tourney (#17 I think) at the WSOP this year. I am going back in June/July. Actually, I am headed to Vegas in three weeks to play some cash games and tourneys, too.

I didn't make it to the dinner break. There were nearly 2000 people in the tourney. I probably came in somewhere around 1300th. I could never get any momentum going. I did get my money in as a huge favorite (AQ v AJ) but a J on the flop sealed my fate.

The best part about it is that there is always the next year. 🙂

Still though, that's pretty cool. Must have been a blast to be there. I'd love to go, just can't afford it. Maybe I'll get lucky and win a seat online one day.

I was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Every poker player that you have ever heard of was there. Not sectioned off or behind bodyguards. Just standing around, talking, playing.. It's kind of like poker fantasy camp.

BTW, I won my buy-in from a $300 sit and go at the Rio. I got heads-up with another guy and we chopped the $3000 first prize.

This is a bad approach, IMO. With $25, I assume you'll be playing micro limit cash games($.01/.02 and up) or $1/$2(or higher) multi-table tournaments or sit-and-gos. I don't see a problem with that, but even at those stakes I don't think $25 is high enough to survive a bad stretch.

tx holdem

lets hold an anandtech poker tourney.. say $5 to enter. winners (seperate tables) get their $5 back losers lose the $5 to someone who needs it on the forums
