What's the status on them? or ? Just wondering because there was a ton of interest in an ATOT hold'em tournament (would have been $10 buyin), but the thread got locked and having to do it all via PM really killed things.

The problem is sistuation with poker threads is never constant. We've gone from acceptance, to locking, to flat out deleting over at atot -- and no word from the mods about why and when the policy changes. Since our friend the bigass PP banner is back I think it's safe to say SOMETHING has changed . . .

The banner never left for me. I don't think it's really fair to have a huge banner promoting playing poker with real money and then go and prohibit the forum users to talk about it. Playing poker, is just as taboo as drinking and yet you see threads about beer and other forms of alcohol going on without a problem. I dont see the how poker threads get locked while other threads that contain a much more "touchy" subject don't get locked. I think it is very hypocritical!

My 2 cents.

AFAIK, poker threads are allowed as long as they are dealing with FAKE money, not REAL money.....

Are those PP ads dealing in real money or fake money. (I have them filtered, so I don't care to check.)
I hope that AT is filtering those ads to not be shown in the state of CA, for AT's sake. (Online gambling ads are illegal in the state of CA, as I also mentioned in the last thead on this subject in Forum Issues.)

Btw, are Majongg threads banned too?

Edit: how about just making "poker" a banned word? (Along with "ipod"? Puhleeeze? Mods?)

We believed this to be true, but then play money poker threads were deleted entirely for a while in ATOT (curious -- why delete and not a lock?). The mods apparently stopped this though and you can find play money poker games being organized on ATOT again.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the Mods on whether I can link a friend's poker forum in my sig.

From what I can tell there are a lot of differing opinions among the Mods. The only absolute I've gotten from them is that asking anyone to put up cold, hard cash is out. Any place that will take a cash bet is also out. Everything else is still grey area. Talking about poker strategy is acceptable, but not all of the Mods approve. I believe it's because there's so many youngins who frequent here.

You may just need to find another place to post about poker related topics.
