I'm playing on a $1/$2 limit table and I am dealt the following hand. My question is about how on the river, I was unable to re-raise and why that is.

The person before was all-in when he made his $0.75 bet on the river, but still, the other guy had more money as did I and shouldn't I have been allowed to re-raise?

Perhaps because the only person that bet was out of money so you can't raise him? If Player 4 had bet instead of checking, and then Player 8 had gone all in you probably would have been able to re-raise player 4.

That seems like the most logical answer, still though, wish I coulda re-raised b/c I could have won some more money =P

Interesting. I would definitely call it a "bug" of the game. In this situation you should be able to raise in which player 4 and yourself create a side pot. This side pot has only you and player 4 to be eligible to win, regardless if played 8 wins the main pot. Whoever has the better hand of the two of you takes the side pot, and the main pot if he beats player 8.

I am thinking the game thought you could not re-raise a player who is already all in-- ignoring the other players with chips still standing. Because you happened to be right after player 8. Or some sort of rule, where pot limit = someone's all in, or pot limit is reached after someone goes all in where betting was previously capped. I usually don't play with betting caps so I'm unsure of the normal rules behind this.

Oh, and you played that hand nicely, check raise ftw :D

u couldn't raise because you already had your action (your check) and the raise to you was not a full bet. if player 8 was all in with $2 or more then you would have been able to raise. also if player 8 was before you and went all in with $0.75 you would have been able to raise...

not in this situation because the bet to the OP was below the min bet. since player 8 only bet 0.75 he did not have a full bet (the min is $2) and you cannot raise. if player 8 was all in for $2 then yes, you would be able to raise....

edit - actually i just read that in limit a half bet or more constitutes a full bet so player 8 would only have to bet $1 for it to be considered a full bet...

I see, thanks for the reply. I also got an email back from pokerstars and they pretty much said the exact same thing. I never about this rule, always learning something new.

I have been playing on Fulltiltpoker and just recently pokerstars.

It's very easy to transfer money. Fulltiltpoker I just use my BoA checking/debit Visa card (but my mastercard CC doesn't work). For pokerstars, I just use eChecks and they withdraw from my bank account directly. In both cases, I got instant credit in my poker account to start playing.

edit - Nevermind. Declined my Visa and Mastercard and wants my full SSN for an eCheck. No thanks.

Yeah, this.

I ran into this in a casino and had never heard of the rule.

For fulltiltpoker, I cash out via checks, takes about 7 business days for me.

For PS, I haven't cashed out anything yet, but I'm just going to do checks also.

What's wrong w/ asking for SSN?
