Hey guys, last night we played some hold em, and it went on forever, until about 3:30 am. It was finally over, and I ended up losing during heads up play, but there was a pot that I lost that i am not sure if i really lost. Heres the breakdown.

Community Cards : 10, QUEEN, 10, QUEEN, ACE

I had : 10, 5

He had: 10,4

I claimed that i had won because of my 5 kicker, he claimed that it was split because of the ace. If anyone knows who wins that would be helpful. Thanks
 
It is a split. The idea is to form the best five card hand. You each take the Two 10's and the two Queen's for a full house and use your own 10 Thats 4 comunity cards and your own 10. So you each end up forming the same 5 card hand. You split the pot.
 
You were both wrong technically. You were wrong because your 5 doesn't matter, as it is the 7th card that would have come into play for you and you only get a 5 card hand. He was wrong, becuase the hand was a guaranteed split as soon as that Queen came out on the turn, so the Ace didn't matter either. You both had 10's full of Queens.

Yeah I understand that now. We had been playing for hours and it was tough to make good calls with a bunch of drunks at the time 😛
 
had you been holding 6, 5 and he was holding 6, 4, it was still a split pot. You would have used all 5 on the board and the hole cards wouldnt have mattered.

Had you been holding 10, A and he had 10, k you would have won with a full house, 10's full of A's over his tens full of queens.

its the best 5 card hand no matter what 5 you use. You can use 1, 2 or none of your own cards to make your hand.

both of you are wrong, but it is a split pot.

the 5 card hand you played was 10,10,10,Q,Q - a full house - 10s full of queens

none of the other cards on the table or in your hand matter thats why its a spilt pot.
