Pokemon Question

I know, some people this this game is pretty lame. But I actually thinks it's a really good RPG. I don't watch the cartoon or do the "Catch em All" thing. I just like the game.

My question is this. There are normal attacks and special attacks. Fire is a special attack. Say there are 2 pokemon. 1 is a Fire type and another is a Rock Type(just theoretical). They can both learn the move ember and they both have the same Special attack rating. Would they both do the same damage or would the Fire type pokemon do more damage since he is fire and the move is fire?

This is from pokemon dungeon, but I would assume that the damage rules are shared across the various games.

If the attack shares a type with the attacker's type, the damage is multiplied by 1.5.

The Fire Pokemon gets STAB (same type attack bonus) when it's using fire-based attacks.
