Pokemon GO idiots

Elixer

Lifer
This is why we need to have cell & WiFi jammers.
These idiots are looking at their phone, not paying attention where they are walking / riding / biking, and caused all sorts of problems today.

Was at the mall, and there was a pack (20+) of kids from 12-17 all looking at their phone walking around like they own the place. They run into people, small kids, people with strollers... they just don't care.
Was a real mess. The mall "security" guards were a joke, they would tell them to leave, and they just kept on playing the game. Finally, someone called the cops, and they broke up this crowd.

Outside the mall was just as bad, people slamming on their brakes trying to get to some location, speeding around the parking lot trying to catch whatever.

I counted 6 accidents outside, with one idiot leaving the scene to go catch whatever, and his friends were cheering him on.

Sigh.

Umm this just don't start with Pokémon Go, they've been like this already for a long time.

this made it worse, we have had people ask if they can come into a secure building to catch one. i don't think ive ever wanted to punch someone in the face that badly before

Is this like an overlay game with camera?

I've been seeing a lot of real-world video with Pokemon images on the interwebs lately.

The overlay feature is optional (although set to on by default), and yes, it's called augmented reality.

I give it 1 week. I guess 3 deaths by next week. 1 from driving. 2nd from crossing road. 3rd from phone robbing with guns. Pokemongo is the new illuminati

the robbing has already started, people setting out lures and stealing robbing people

I went for a walk in my neighborhood, it was weird, kinds were roaming to the poke gym and were yelling at each other, hahaha. Then I told them there was a richu over here, and they all ran over... I lied.

Just think of the possibilities, spies can be trying to gain access to secure locations because they need to catch a pokemon, and the company that made this game is planting rare stuff at secure locations.

I always thought Pokemon was a childish thing in the late 90s. Now to see people in their 20s and 30s playing this just makes the whole thing even more ridiculous.

What is with the sudden surge of pokemon craze latetly anyway? Next thing you know people are going to start playing pogs and marbles again while listening to their mix tapes on their Sony Walkman. 😀 Ahhh the simple times.

Probably nostalgia. I'm in that age range and Pokemon was a huge thing during elementary school. Kids were playing the game on their Gameboy during recess.

I will admit, I have Pokémon Go on my phone. It's the first Pokémon game I've ever played. I have not, and will not, walk around with it. I used it while riding in a car as a passenger.

Well, at least kids are playing outside again, for the first time in about 20 years. I guess it's the modern day equivalent to pinecone animals...

But yeah, kids crossing roads without looking, entering restricted areas, falling into lakes and rivers or walking off cliffs.. I predict a few deaths, assaults, muggings and kidnappings before the whole thing gets banned.

🙂 It was nice going to the park and seeing all sorts of ppl playing the game. /still don't know how you're supposed to help raise a gym's prestige by beating a much higher lvl pokemon defender

Just saw a short news blurb about some crime committed using Pokemon GO to lure people. It was Missouri or Mississippi. Too lazy to find.

Those children grew up, and now have fancy phones and apparently nothing better to do.

Anyway, I downloaded it and tried it out. Some of the reports about accidents don't make sense, as the area of effect means you don't have to get THAT close to something to try and catch it... And you certainly don't need to stop in a very specific point from what I see. I'm not in an urban area though so that might be part of it.

Anyway, these developers have already made a game like this years ago called Ingress. Apparently slapping a Pokémon skin on it made people lose their shit.
