Whats next? Man dies from preparing rat poison. People are just.....well you know:roll:
I guess it was the only fish I was served that week that came prepared with real herbs and spices. So that certainly helped. It wasn't at all chewy though. The raw squid hood was the chewy food.Originally posted by: xospec1alk
personally theres isn't much taste to the fugu...its rather bland imho, and extremely chewy
em, no; it's not quite the same thing as walking across the street. And someone choosing NOT to eat something they either don't trust or don't understand is not a pussy for making a decision they're comfortable with. There's a known potential of death in eating this delicacy and you're choosing to trust whether or not the person preparing the dish knows what they're doing. Aside from whether the chef knows what they're doing, there's still a chance that your own body might not handle the experience well. People die from less exotic food allergies and it has nothing to do with food prep.Originally posted by: MoPHo
it's a delicacy, if you wanna eat it, go ahead. if you wanna be a a little pussy, then just whine and go home to your mother and don't. but for all these people who say that if you eat it you're dumb and deserve to die, its the same thing as saying 'omg, you walk across the street, you deserve to get hit by a car.'

I was the guest of a business dinner where a dish was presented to me which the translator described as blowfish. Though my actions as guest of honor could affect the business relationship between our companies; I chose not to count on whether the Chef was good at what he did.
I asked the translator to explain that I respectfully decline the dish; that there is other food on his menu that I look forward to eating. The translator later explained that my hosts were relieved that I hadn't accepted the dish because that would have meant that they had to eat it too.

So why did they put it on the menu then?
