I've sold a few gadgets on the List of Craig over the last couple of years. Buyers have all been quite a ways away, but we could find a place to meet.

Today it was a guy on the same road, about 3 miles down further.
 
I was reading an article on wasteful takeout packaging, and this was in it...

Rose’s at Home in Washington switched from using cardboard boxes to insulated nylon bags. A note with the food delivery asks customers to reuse or recycle that and other packaging.


Are you fucking serious?! Replacing cardboard which is sustainable, cheap, recyclable, reusable, insulates fairly well, and is biodegradable with nylon which is none of those things aside from reusable and insulating. An insulated bag might be useful for something if you kept it, but if you order from old Rose more than a couple times, you're gonna have useless bags laying around doing nothing.

I occasionally buy La Fermière yogurt that's made in the US, comes in fired clay pots from Spain, and that's supposed to be an environmental win according to them. The pots are nice as shit, but you can only use so many. They're energy hogs the whole way through. Maybe if you could return them for refill, but they don't do that, and they're marked 'No reuse' on the bottoms, so it's just greenwashed bullshit for people that can't do logic.

Finally, when I get fish & chips from the local fish shop, I always say no ketchup or tartar sauce(cause ketchup's for children, and tartar sauce is for people that don't like fish). It's a waste of resources for things I have zero interest in. 75% of the time I get a armload of ketchup packets anyway, and 60% of the time I get tartar sauce :^S
 
Do NOT reuse the gloves you wear to make hot sauce, if there is any chance you might accidentally put them on, inside-out next time. Doesn't matter if you think you washed them good enough. You didn't.
 
Capsaicin does have remarkable staying power. I've gotten hot sauce on my hands washed them, then forgot about it for an hour or more til I rubbed my eyes :^O
 
Kayem beef dogs, minced hot dill pickles, swiss cheese and yellow mustard on a toasted New England roll. That is all.
 
^ I'm pretty sure that won't work, or else I wouldn't taste the hot sauce when put on acidic food.

There are extreme things you can do, like wash your hands in trisodium phosphate and let that sit on them for a minute to pull the oil out of your skin, but I'd just soak my hands in icewater (or cold milk) before doing that, and this time the pain was nowhere near as bad as the first time I processed superhot peppers without gloves, then had washed them with only a usual amount of detergent, in hot water which opened the pores to make it worse.

Ideal washing is barely any cold water, a lot of detergent, let that sit (is far gentler than the TSP), then a cold water rinse. Another tip is even when wearing the nitrile gloves to process peppers, I first rub vegetable oil into my hands, so if the gloves have a pinhole, tear, or get cut with the knife, the vegetable oil becomes a buffer that helps to wash away the pepper oil on top of it. Plus they stopped putting powder in the gloves so they are easier to slip on and off of oiled hands.
