Army Rangers?

/me points and laughs...
Do you think they are better than SEALs, in all respects?
They each have their uses...

I was just making fun of the thread, nothing more...

Actually, it should have been worded "Do you think the SEALs are better than the Rangers, in all respects"

But hey, I'm tired.

Depends on the situation. Urban combat? Deltas. Mountain combat? Deltas. Swamp land or beach assualt? Seals. Swampy jungle? Could go either way but for some reason I'm favoring the seals in this one.

There was a team of 8 SAS inserted into Iraq to take out SCUD launchers...their location was comprimised the 2nd day and they evaded an entire Iraqi company trying to make their way to Syria. 3 were killed and 4 captured...but ONE man made it back to Syria by foot....over 180 miles away.

Ever hear of Sgt York? Or maybe Carlos Hathcock?

If you're going to talk about specific instances, those men performed better than the SAS. However, I dont know many people that are going to argue that your average Army grunt is better than an SAS trooper.

Delta Force - hostage rescue/urban warfare
Rangers - Large unit operations that require something other than regular army
SEALS - water environment/commando warfare
Marine Recon - as the name suggest primarily reconnaisance (sp?)

I think that's why Delta Force is much better.. because urban warfare is where it will be at. or is at...

My prediction: People who have never been in ANY SF organization, most of whom will not even have been a member of the armed services, are going to get into pissing contests over the size of other men's balls.

sort of like professional sports, eh?

anyways i think delta is better. more elite.

Well it's hard to compare the two since they sorta do different things. Delta deals alot with counter-terrorism, ie. hostages. Seals have a group specfically to do that, but they also have a group that deals with demolition, and other things.

Seals go through some grueling ass training. AS for Delta, I dunno what kind of training they go through cuz

1. they are so secretive
2. I heard you can't just sign up to try to be in Delta force. THEY ASK YOU to join. If you don't get asked, there's no chance.

Hey Axelfox it's....

A sailor and a marine go into the bathroom together. After both taking a piss, the marine just walks out. But before he does, the sailor says " In the navy, they teach us to wash our hands after taking a piss..." and the marine says " Oh yeah? In the marines, they teach us not to piss on our hands!"

exactly... i usually just decide by looking at which group feeds into another. delta selects the elite seals, not the other way around.

btw remember that show where they had the SF people play games? combat missions or something like that. i only saw the first few episodes, but the difference between the delta guy and the rest was really obvious (the asian guy). his whole freaking team was dead and he was just sitting there racking up kills.

Keep in mind that Delta Force was created for very limited roles; namely counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and body snatching.

Except professional sports is open. You can find out stats. You can watch them play. You can watch two teams play each other. Most people that talk about a certain sport have at least played it. Most people talking here haven't been in combat. There is one big difference

as for non-specialized specialized really kickassing, the 101'st airborne were where it used to be at. before all this special forces shit...

hey, with a name like "Screaming Eagles" how can you go wrong?

it all reverts back to my theory of the name makes the game. the reason Germany did so well in the beginning of WWII was that it had cool names for units. i mean, come on.... Panzer, sherman... Fokker, pup... Steyr/Mauser/luger vs. Enfield... and of course, the Stukka. what did the british have? a Moth. A camel... and a pup. no wonder they did so bad.

they aint doing as bad now, i mean they're naming things harriers and such... but i mean, our planes... kool. Fighting Falcon, Eagle, Tomcat... see what i mean? Warthog... perfect description of that plane... slow... and MEAN.

however w/ charlie sheen as a seal, i mean... come on. wasnt he too busy looking for whores to be serious about sealing? now, when they had the other dude.... i forget his name... shuutt.. i cant remember... but he made a better seal. i wanna say sylvester stallone, but that's wrong... grr... oh well.

anyway, the name makes the game. all about the name. So, in that category, delta force = leet. but the seals arent far behind.

So, naming the Navy's SF force after a marine mammal that is known for being clubbed to death somehow, by itself, makes them good?

SAS better than both, considered by many (anyone not American that is) to be the best special forces in the world.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Tomcat is actually a British plane.
