In 1991 Johnny Utah stops some bank robbers and likely ruins his career. In 2014, another John who looks very similar to Utah goes on a killing rampage. Coincidence?

Still have not watched the original so don't really care either way.

KT

It's pretty good for what it is; a simple action movie. Keanu Reeves has almost always delivered in that genre and Kathryn Bigelow apparently has always been an interesting director even in her early films.

....

A remake of "Point Break?" Hahaha.

How many movies is it possible for Jeff Goldblum to be Jeff Goldblum in? That is the question.

"I believe that, like me, the people behind these robberies are extreme athletes"

fcking terrible

then i got to the cliff/waterfall scene at the end and decided this is definitely something for maybe cable, in the background, while i take an extreme poop

Sigh... is right. The first is a great action flick, and a favorite in the surfing community. Swayze was great in it, Keanu also.
They could have named this something completely different, and it would have sold to the Gen X/Y X-Games crowd.

I paid so little attention to the movie the first time around I didn't even realize Jeff Goldblum was in it.

This is one of those movies it seems like I've seen a zillion times on TV but basically I only watch it until a commercial comes on or I otherwise lose interest and move on. As I recall Swazye and Reeves did their usual workmanlike performances in a rather routine action thriller-the only part that remotely drew my interest was the parachuting.

Looks to be a real moneymaker as a retread, yeah right.

HALO drop the kids off at the pool. I like it.

I actually liked the original when it came out. Doubt it holds up very well almost 15 years later but may need to go watch it again.

I watch Point Break at least once a year but have no interest in this remake. They should have had Keanu Reeves's Johnny Utah take on the Fast and Furious crew. Or Utah team up with the Vin Diesel guy from XXX.

Even better, do a No Man's Land (1987)/Point Break/Drop Zone/Fast and Furious/XXX 2 crossover. It has to be XXX 2 because Vin Diesel can't play two parts. Maybe he can, if they make it that the reason he wasnt in Fast and Furious 2 was because he was in Europe doing XXX stuff. Anyways, everyone goes undercover to catch each other, then realize they are all on the same side and team up to take someone down.

The only thing that doesnt hold up is Lori Petty. She's kinda annoying. Hard to believe she was an it girl back in the day.

original is awesome. i own the bluray of it and watched it somewhat recently. it's still great. i'l check out this trailer when i get home with sound, but doing a quick scan through it without sound, it doesn't even look anything like the original.
