thats because Bourne's an assassin while Bond is a spy. Spies have to make contacts, sleep with beautiful female spies, and use fancy gadgetry. But yeah in a shootout I would take the assassin over the spy.
"007" is his license to kill i.e. he is an assasin...

"007" is not his license to kill, just his callsign. If you watch the movies, you'd know that there is a 008 and and a 009 as well (and presumably more).

His license to kill is just his license to kill :p

I always thought of him as a spy who has permission to kill, a spy who has been trained in killing people but who's main job is being a spy first.

All the double-0's (and only the double-0's) have license to kill.

Well duh, but I have a license to drive and that doesn't mean its my job to drive. It just means that if I wanna do some driving, I have a license and can do so.

Bond is the same way, his job is to be a spy...but in the event he wants to do some killing, he is fully licensed to do so.

Hell yeah, Mitch kicks ass. He's an assassin and he's got t3h hawt chick.

Glad someone else enjoys his novels. I just picked up another today. Pretty much done with all of Vince's books.

That's pretty limiting... what if they needed more than nine licenses to kill? :p

Yup, the "double 0" portion implies that they are "double" agents. "Double Agent 7 James Bond"

That would never happen. 007 gets it done every time.

which is why I think Bourne would win. Because his job is to assassinate people. So he would know more ways, and be better at it then Bond.

What, they can't have 0010? Who says that the designations have to be three digit?

Even a better question, which James Bond would do the fighting?
Sean Connery?
Roger Moore (frankly, I thought the the Nick Nack could have kicked his ass)?
Timothy Dalton?
Pierce Brosnan?
That other guy?

Actually 008 only has a license to die. 008's always die before Bond is put on the case.

The question is: Would it matter? Bourne would own all of those guys.
