The spaceship sounds (in space, no less) are MUCH less realistic than the pod racer sounds.

And how many people have heard an explosion in space versus how many people have heard a jet AND an interal combustion engine? Thats sound logic you have there.
ps, sound doesn't travel well in space, if at all.
May want to make a mental note to yourself in your sig to cut down on english and focus on some science.

No sh1t?! Really? So sound in a vacuum == no medium to transfer sound? Are you serious? Wow. Thats just some crazy ass sh1t. No, really, thank you for enlightening me AND totally ignoring the point of this post. Thanks for playing...
Playing what, your mama?

Your post really has no point. You're arguing over the logics of the sounds a completely imaginary craft makes in a fantasy movie. Reexamine your "logic".

Listen asshat, and listen closely since you clearly missed my point. Im questioning the CREATIVITY of Lucas Arts, not the reality. Get it? More people know that something that looks like a JET engine will probably NOT sound like a race car since race cars do not have JET engines. Get it?
You get hostile quick. Put your little wee wee away.

Well, I know my pod racer doesn't sound like that. I took it in for a tune up this morning.

Actually, Star Wars is NOT sci-fi, technically speaking. It's pure fantasy, just set in space.
It's crap like Star Wars that gives Sc-Fi a bad name. Every time I see it listed in the Sci-Fi genre, I gag!

While I agree that it's more fantasy than sci fi(jedi knights that fight with swords and have mind control powers?), but there is still a lot of sci fi material in star wars.

wtf are you looking into the movie that much?

well they spent like a gajillion dollars making the movie you'd think they could atleast do the little things right

Like having all the space battles be silent, right?

I think a fantastic way to "film" a space battle would be to have all the shots be from inside ships, where you can have sounds . . . throbbing engines, weapons firing, weapons impacting the hull.

For explosions you wouldn't hear the boom but you'd hear all the little peices bouncing off the hull . . .

you could do shots inside fighters, from the bridge, from weapons stations, etc.

I think it could be pulled off very well, maybe even add an occasional silent external shot.

I've been watching Ep 1 & 2 this weekend to get ready for 3. I still think the pod scene is cool. I remember seeing it the theater when it came out, we were all blown away at that scene.

If you watch the special features, they tell how they got the sounds - jet engines, formula 1 cars, other things.
BTW, could any of you talking sh1t done it any better?
