PocketPC users...a noobish inquiry regarding .doc file sizes...

When I transfer a regular Word 2000 document to my Dell Axim, after it converts it to Pocket Word, the file size is relatively the same.

But when I edit (not adding much, just tinkering with what's already there) and save, then transfer the document back to my PC, although my formatting is preserved, and everything else is the same, the file size is more than twice its original size?

In short:

Microsoft Word 2000 document: 650 KB --> transferred into Pocket Word --> 658KB -->transferred back into MS Word 2000: 1.30 MB.

Even if I don't edit the file at all in Pocket Word - if I only save it, it ends up being more than twice the size it was originally.

If this is, for whatever reason, normal, then that's fine. I just want to make sure it's not a problem (and one for my professors to gripe over...)

I Think you do have a problems. My files get smaller as they are convert to pocketwork..



actually i just noticed something strange. while im exploring my device and i check the properties of a file its 1.4k but in pocket word is 4k😕


bah.. damn thing crashed while i was editing the file..
.... it hard reset on me. asdjflkasjl;:|

I've looked over the .doc backwards and forwards and I can't see anything different about it. Formatting is there, lines per page is the same, not a hair out of place, but it's just a lot bigger...weirdness.

Yeap.. i think you have a problem

word 2k3 16k-> pocket word 4k-> desktop still 16k
definitely weirdness.
 
Maybe it's the way I'm putting the document back onto my PC? I normally just open Explorer in ActiveSync window and copy and paste the Pocket Word .doc to my desktop. As it copies, it says it's also converting so I think it's okay to do it that way, but maybe I'm wrong?
 
Never tried to copy and paste the files. Usually i just drag them around. But i dont' think thats the problems since your method still requires the file to be converted, just like my method. I guess you try the drag and drop method.
