pocket pc

My dad is interesting in purchasing a pocket pc and I don't know too much about them. Which ones are good for about $300 or less. He was told that the Toshiba 740 was good, is this the best for the price?

Axim is nice, I've played around with my friends'. Has both SD and Compactflash.

Some of the Toshibas have intergrated wireless though which is nice. Check out the Cnet reviews, and of course slickdeals.net for deals heh.

What does your dad need it for exactly? Is he a techno lover?

I would either get a iPAQ 1910 Pocket PC (smallest PPC made), or if he can wait, then wait for the new iPAQ 2200 series. The 2200 series will be the first iPAQ with both CF and SDIO integrated. They should be out end of this month. I had the e740, and hated it. I now own a iPAQ 5455 and am loving it (it costs 600 tho, so thats out of the picture). I personally like the Axim for it's price, but hate the screen, it is too dim. My screen at 30% brightness is brighter than the Axim at full brightness.

I love my Axim, and highly recommend them to all who ask. I got mine for less than 300, and it has 64MB RAM, 400MHz xscale processor, compactflash and SD slots, and a really nice screen (comparable to the IPAQs at much cheaper price).

He's not a techno lover at all, well maybe a little bit. He doesn't know how to use half of the stuff he buys buts loves buying "neat" things mostly to show his friends. 🙂
