Im not sure this is the right forum. Anyways i just got a pocket pc with wifi and bluetooth built in, the hp 4355 i love it especially for the 150 i payed. Anyways i just installed resco files browser so i could get to my network. Unfortunetly it doesnt show my computer as being a computer on the network.

First let me explain my houses network, there are 5pcs on a wireless router, 4 of them are on wireless i am still wired in. My computer is part of an MSHOME workgroup with file sharing enabled. I also have a modded xbox hooked to my computer through a second nic card and it can access files perfectly fine.

However when i try to use wifi to obtain access to my computer it does not list me as part of the network, it only lists those computers using wireless. I dont know what else to do here. Im going to be getting bluetooth in a couple weeks but until then i would love to have wifi access to my music and movies. Anyone have an idea?

Ok so i know it isnt proper forum eddicit to bump my thread, but you guys are like my last hope on this. I have asked 3 or 4 pda sites and they just dont know jack about networking or the computer side of things. Thanks for anyhelp you can offer.

It is just so strange that my xbox can see my computer, but other computers on the router cant see me.

I have an ipaq too (I think it is a 4355 but I spend almost $400 on it 2-3 years ago).

You sure your WiFi is turned on and connected to your wireless network (on your ppc)?

It seems like your saying that none of your wireless computers can see the wired one, correct?

If you want to use the ppc to access your wireless network just use the file explorer already on the device. Down on the bottom there are 3 buttons and the far right one selects browsing to networks. When the box pops up type in \\ then your computer name like \\%computername% and see if it will find your computer that way.

You can try the same with your wireless pc's if they won?t connect..... Go start > run > and type in \\%computername%

If this doesn?t work try pinging the ip address of your wired computer from a wireless computer to make sure they can talk.

If all this doesn?t work then post your wireless router model and PC OS's

Anyone else?

Ok well i got it figured out, it turned out being an issue with the routers firewall. I went ahead and opened about 20 ports i needed and eveything seems to be going smoothly now. The next thing i need to do is figure out how to increase the range of my network so i can listen to music on campus. Anyways thanks guys.
