Nah, that's OK. Thanks for the offer though. I'll just wait for them to get them in stock again.

Well, bought an Audiovox Maestro.

I went down to the CompUSA in Raleigh and they didn't have any. But they said that they would have them in this week so I went ahead and prepaid for it at this week's sale price.

Woohoo, can't wait.:p

WHOAH!!!:Q:Q:Q

I just put my 568 on Ebay. It'll most definitely sell by Tuesday (close date). But I was hoping for at least 3 hours on low backlight. Just over an hour sounds pretty pathetic.

Does anyone know if Targus makes (or plans to make) a model of their portable keyboard for the maestro? I'm tempted to hop on this deal, but would really need a keyboard to go with it. Thanks!

Look at the microsoft PocketPC site under 'accessories'. The keysynch is a non-collapsible, but small, keboard that plugs into any pocket PC's Serial cradle. You'd have to buy the keyboard ($70), and a serial cradle ($50), but it's not too much more than the $100 you'd pay for a targus.

Just picked one of these up yesterday (they're still in stock at a few stores in Houston). I can't believe more people haven't jumped on this. Read some of the Toshiba e570 reviews, and you'll see that this is a great device.

I definitely get over an hour on the low light (don't like it too bright). I've read that you have to let the battery discharge a few times though in the beginning. I'm not sure how long my battery lasts, but it's definitely over an hour!

Someone in one of the threads posted a link for the Amigo pocketpc. It's $29 more with 64k colors but it also has a built in pcmcia slot for a wireless card. I read various reviews over the net and they all rated it very highly. Since I already have a 802.11b card, I can just put it in there without buying expensive expansion packs. I bought it and love it. Highly worth the extra $29.

Interesting. Yesterday, the first day of 'official' use of my new Maestro at work, I only got about an hour and a half before the low battery warnings and the CF card's power was shut off. Of course, this happened as I was showing off my new 'toy' to coworkers. Kind of embarrasing and pretty dissapointing as well.

NICKel - Did you go through the drain and recharge sequence a few times to get that amount of battery life? I'm a little concerned about doing that because of the lack of a backup battery. I thought Li-ion batteries did not have the "memory" problem of earlier Ni-cads.

Along those lines, I ordered the PDA Battery Extender from stemsons.com yesterday to avoid being left with a dead PDA in the future.

One thing I noticed about my device is that for the first 10% it lasts like 30 min. with low light and mp3 playing, but after that it only lasts like 15 min for each 10%. My device with low light and mp3 playing in a loop can go for about 2.5 hours, this is about the same as the one I had before, which I exchanged. I am really dissapointed in the battery life of this device, but oh well it was only 300.

Sound seems to be a big DRAINER for this unit ...... Which makes sense since it Has the loudest speaker -- Hence, the biggest AMP?

Regarding 5.18 hrs -- I forgot to mention I had CF out and it was on and off for 2 days.... So your results may vary. I will try another with CF card as this is prob a more realistic result since these beasts only have 32mb ....

PDAorDie has a new Ipaq battery that is supposed to be good up to 14 hrs...

That is until now. The good folks at PDAorDie have announced a replacement battery product for these iPAQs called the Power Gear Force and Power Gear Force-Pro that have 2100mAh of juice, or 1750mAh power with buzzer alarm and vibration features, respectively.

I implore everyone who is interested to send them an email asking them to make a Toshiba/audiovox version.... Maybe we can show them there is a market for such a thing.

Their EMAIL!!!

Try again lil' buddy. I work at CompUSA in Roseville and we have like 10 left in stock. They're going for $299 right now.

By the way, the price will be jumping back up to $499 on March 21st. According to CompUSA.com, the $200 price break ($499 to $299) is valid from 3/10/2002 to 3/20/2002.

Well, picked up my Maestro today. It rocks. I've been playing around with it for about 30 mins at "low" backlight. Still ringing in at 100% I really like it and the screen is better than the Jornada's too;)

Just in case anyone was wondering staples finally lowered their price to 349.00 + 50.00 MIR to 299.99 -40.00 coupon. So your total before tax is 259.99

Mine worked out to 277.38 shipped

NICKel, how 'bout doing a PM at Staples for the $299 price at CompUSA? Wouldn't that make it $299 - $40 coupon - $50 rebate = $209 + shipping?

Good thought, but STAPLES is adamant that these have different MAN SKU # hence no PM (yeah in a pigs eye).

I actually tried to do the PM last night with a Staples CSR. She checked with my local CUSA (in Omaha), but they were out of stock. I told her the CUSA in Overland Park, KS had them available in store (according to the CUSA website), but she told me the store had to be within 30 miles of your address to be considered in a PM. Never heard that before. Anyway, went ahead and bought the PDA.

Staples on line and 1-800 cannot locate stock on this unit, but I walked into the store on 6th Ave / 41st Street, NYC and they pulled one out of stock and PM'd Compusa @ $284 total cost after tax was $301 ( this was on a whim and I did not have a $30 or $40 coupon with me); $50 rebate still printed out at the register.

Final cost $251.00 (unless my local store will give me credit for a coupon tomorrow...)

EDIT: My local store worked the coupon for me so final cost after tax/rebate will be $221.

Anyone tried to get CompUSA to match this week's deal? They have a free 32MB CF card and leather case with purchase. I was thinking about bringing my receipt in to see if they would give me the free stuff on my previous purchase, but I doubt it'll work...
