PNY Verto GF4 4400 or Visiontek xtasy GF4 4400?

Which of these cards do you think is going to be better???? Or is there really anydifference since Nvidia makes the chips and these companies just make the boards?

Go read anand's review on the Geforce3, maybe that will help you decide which company is better. Personally, I'd take the PNY, it runs hotter, but OCs higher. But that was for the Ti500, not sure about the GF4 4400. BTW, I think the PNY performs almost similarly to the MSI Starforces.

Personally my favorite brand is Gainward...but they dont have the GF4 TI offerings yet...so....

I believe there was also a deal through gateway w/ a rebate that you could get that TI4400 from Visontech for 235 shipped.

<<BTW, I think the PNY performs almost similarly to the MSI Starforces.>>

Those PNY GeForce3/4s are made by MSI.

<<get a 4600!, why not when your already paying so much?>>

No, because you're not already paying so much. 4400s are a much better value than the 4600s, I've seen 4400s preordering now for like $240, that's incredible bargain.

<< get a 4600!, why not when your already paying so much? >>

I already did!😉 .............but, I also got one of these..................anybody need a couple Ti500 based cards by the now defunct Elsa Corp.???????

Only if they're cheap😀(Free also works quite nicely😉)

J/k...check the FS/FT forum, sure someone there will buy em 🙂

Second vote for the gainward. From their description, it looks like it has the dual DVI ouputs unlike Visiontek or PNY.
And the card looks oh so juicy.....RED, my favorite.

MSI makes cards for PNY and Creative. If the PNY uses the same HS/Fan as the Creative 4600, I'd stay away from it. Toms review of the Creative 4600:

<< The GPU's heatsink/ fan is somewhat of a mixed bag. While it is quite a visual treat and does an excellent job, it is very loud and its sound bears resemblance to that of a blow-drier for your hair. Not exactly something you'd want around you when you're trying to work. Creative/ MSI should rethink their choice of components here and find an alternative. After all, the large heatsink wouldn't even require such a high-speed fan to be effective. >>

If the PNY uses the standard nVidia reference HS/Fan like the VisionTek, its pretty much a coin toss between the two.

EDIT I looked at the PNY Website and it pic of the card shows the normal nV ref design HS/Fan, so it should be OK. Looks like they include 3D glasses with the card.

First, Tom must have gotten a defective fan. I have the PNY Verto GF4 Ti4600 and the fan is as quiet as the other fans. It certainly is no hair dryer!

Second, the card (unlike the picture on the box) has a green pcb. Personally, I could care less but a lot of people seem to have a preference to what their components look like! Different strokes for different folks I suppose. As long as you don't do this, you don't have a big problem!

Third, the card doesn't have the glasses in the box, but a coupon to get them at half price. My GF3 Ti500 (also a PNY) actually had the glasses in the box. I could never get them to work and after I finally RTFM, I found out they only worked with CRT displays! :|

Cheers!

Did the PNY come with any games? The same MSI video card is bundled with seven games(three of them full version), so it looks to me like the MSI is a better deal, given that they're both green PCBs.

There are two CD's in the box. One is the driver installation disk. (Hey, where are the effin' nvidia demos? :| ) The other is a game called Star Wars Starfighter. I did load and play this game briefly and it plays well. Looks like it needs a bitch of a fillrate for the explosion effects. 🙂

Cheers!

I agree that the MSI looks like a better deal. I will get the ti4400 when newegg carries it.
