Hmmm, well with tax it ends up at $360, which is close to some of the better qualitity brands prices of $390, such as the evga. My question is, can we pick this up in store with all the discounts? If I can go get it today then it just might be worthwhile.

hmmmm....
should I....
get this for 340 or get the geforce 6800 NU for 200 tommroow....

decisions decisions....

would the 6800NU modded to 16 pipes really lag that much behind a 6800 GT to merit the 140 dollar difference?

Those coupons are for today only and online only. I prefer the BFG brand because of their lifetime warranty.

Well look at it this way:

You have 128MB vs 256MB which will affect AA at higher rezs.
Core clock 325 vs 350. You can more than likely make this up np.
Mem clock 700 vs 1000. Will not be able to make up for this but can probably close the gap a little. I wouldn't hold out for more than 850 and thats if you're really lucky.
12-pipes/5 vertex shaders vs 16-pipes/6 vertex shaders. Hit and miss, not all cards unlock 100%.
$200 vs $340. Thats $140 you could spend on other upgrades/presents if you need them.

Well most 6800 NUs have 16 working pipes and 6 shaders but there is no guarantee...if your card does then without OCing it you pretty much have a slower GT on your hands and even stock you wont be able to tell the difference in gaming between the 2 cards.

The extra ram will only come in handy if you play 4xAA and 8XAF @ 1600x1200 ...if youll never do this then save your money and try and NU.

Although I think the PNY is equal or better (quieter) I chose the BFG for the same reason.

PNY warranty says lifetime as well.

The PNY warranty is not lifetime, it is only for as long as they manufacture that particular product.

I agree.

with that being sad 6600gts should be around 200.00 when they hit the streets and as fast or faster then the 6800. so how hot is a 200.00 dolllar 6800, they should be 200.00 normally. but then again u don't have to wait

1 company has it out, in 2 weeks time should be 4-5 more from the info ive read, they can't miss the xmas season and with only 1 month before xmas i'll bet they are around 200.00 within 2 weeks, we'll just have to see =)

On most of the new GF cards, PNY warrantees for 1 year without product registration. If you register your card, the warranty extends to 3 years. I have never gotten a bad PNY product or had one crap out on me. Hence, not knowing the quality of other mfg, I usually buy PNY. Of course that's just me.
