PNY USB Memory

OK, so I have a PNY Attache USB memory key. Anyways, today, go to use it, and it says that its not formatted. OK, I know that this is bad, but I don't really need anything on it anyways, so I say yes. Anyways, then it says its right protected, and wont open, format, or anything. I only bought this about 3 months ago at Walmart (256mb version), but don't have the receipt or packaging. Is there something else I can try to get it working, or does anybody know if Walmart will take it back? Thanks.
 
Kind of obvious, but did you accidentally flip a write protect switch on the flash drive? Mine has a tiny lever that toggles protection off/on.
