PNY RAM PC2700 256mg $19.99 AR

my store had it listed as $99 - $80 multiple rebates, but when I asked the guy to ring it up, he said it was $44.99

I have 2 sticks of the "Optima" 2700 (Infineon chips) and they work fine in a non OC'ed system.

I got SpecTek memory, which does 175MHz at 2.5/6/3/2 (CAS, precharge delay, RAS to CAS, RAS precharge)with default voltage. Anything above this setting will cause error in Memtest86. For CAS=2, even at 166MHz, it was no go...
The amzing thing is that a generic ram I got from FRY's a half year ago (PC2100 CL=2 made by Lei) could pass memtest86 at 175MHz with 2/6/3/2. I thought SpecTek's ram was better than such a generic ram, since Spectek is a division of Micron, but it seems not...
oh well, for the price I cannot complain.

BTW, I have pentium IV 1.8 o/c to 2.4 with Epox 4G4A+ M/B.

I have a stick of this best buy PNY PC2700 mixed with some PNY 2100 in a 266mhz system. works great so far! However i can't overclock much because of the 2100..oh well.

I got my PNY 256 MB sticks from OfficeDepot. They are sold as PC2100, but the chips seem to be marked as 6ns. Are these actually PC2700 chips? The actual marking on the chips are:

AE 0303
S80032VMCTW
-6A

They also had sticks with -75A markings manufactured in 0307. Those of you who have PNY PC2700 sticks, what are your chip markings? How about overclocking results?

Well, I just returned it to the store. They only had SpecTek memory, so I'm just going to order another stick online and see what happens when I get it...

Edit: Memory compatibility is an ever bigger problem now than years ago. You almost have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what memory brand goes with the motherboard. Oh well.

I'm not sure about others but Infineon chip is the best so far (may be samsung too but hard to find now). I got PNY 256 MB Infineon 6 since it mixed up in PC2100 package. This baby can run at 186 FSB at timing cas2-3-3-6. BB in my area (So cal) have this Infineon 6, I saw a couple mixed with SpecTex.

I got some pny pc2100 over the summer with "elixir" chips...anyone heard of this? It was 50-25 mir. They claimed my upc was not valid, and I being the idiot I am did not have a copy of anything, so I was SOL.

I picked up two of these today. Had the guy hand me the whole pile, most were Spectek, some Nunyen (?), one Samsung, and two Infineon. I grabbed the Infineon but didn't notice until I was installing that they were different PCBs. They both have similar -6 chips but one has 8 on one side and the other has 4 on each side staggered. Anyone see any problems running these together in an Nforce2 rig?

By the way, according to an email reply I got from Micron, Spectek is made by Micron but is not held to the same quality control levels as actual Micron labeled chips. Micron chips are certified for use in the medical field and Spectek are not. Whether or not that means they are any better or worse, I have no idea.

Bought 1 stick yesterday. It seems to be playing well with my other stick of Cosair XMS. I tested both rams with PCmark and I got 3107 for the Cosair and 3137 for the PNY. What's up with that?

Is 512mb of ram enough or should I go up to 768? I do gamming, graphics, video editing, and 3d.

Those markings are for pc2700. I was looking at the spectek website and their data sheet says the -75 chips are 133MHz, while the -6 are 166MHz.

It is $99 - $80 multiple rebates. What you didn't read was that that $80 was $25 mail-in rebate and $55 INSTANT rebate.
