No, but I used that IC Diamond stuff and got a thermaltake HS/fan..can't remember the model but it has an orange fan with 3 blades and set to manual. My microfly case has a temp display and it idles at 29 to 33F. This is on a low fan speed mind you. When I game, I turn it up (from about a third to 2 thirds speed) and it stays around 60F not at full speed. I had to cut a section of the case frame out as the hs/fan area has a bar running across. Cables all tidy and the PNY 9600gt is cool and quiet compared to other cards, especially the ATI ones.

You mean 29 to 33 degrees celcius, right? If you really had it down to 29 degrees Fahrenheit, you could make ice by putting ice trays in your case!

LOL, tru dat! My bad...

I have been using ZZF more and more. I have used them for years (remember GoogleGear??). They beat Newegg alot of times. NEVER a problem.

Too funny, I still have a Googlegear USB scanner I paid $9.99 for. I also recently saw Googlegear CDs STILL for sale on ZZF. Laughed my butt off thinking if these were that old, are they still any good?

I got my card from Amazon yesterday. I put in the card and the fan was very loud! However, it got much quieter once the drivers were loaded. Thanks, OP.

Ya, same here. Once I heard that fan spin up on first boot, my heat sank. Luckily it went away upon the driver install reboot.

the same thing would happen on the old ati x800 series cards.

Bought one today to go in the Dell I got from outpost yesterday. Looking forward to upgrading from this 2100+ 6600GT computer. 🙂

Is the fan quiet enough to run in a home pvr system?

The fan on the GPU is the loudest one in my rig @ 35%...I have to lower it down to 25% during normal desktop applications. Everyone has their own subjective opinion on what's "loud" to them.

Getting this card today from ZZF, but they seemed to raise the price 10 bucks? Swore AR was 109, oh well, still a great deal!

they did raise the price and now its OOS.

Yep - dammit! It was there this morning and an hour before I wiped out the credit card! I hope they restock it before it expires. Does the expiration date mean it expires that day and I can buy that day and still qualify for the rebate or I have to buy it on the 22nd?

I agree here. It's not too loud for a game system, but for a PVR, I'd look at other cards. I use a Gecube 2600XT with a two-slot cooler in my HTPC and it's excellent. MUCH quieter than this 9600gt.

That's the one thing I learned about Hot Deals......if you want something, buy it NOW!!! Don't go brush your teeth, take a dump, drive in to the office.......just BUY 😀.

I bought this card on Monday this week. It will be here Friday. Am I still eligible for the rebate?

Yeah, you can actually buy through today and be good on the rebate. It's the purchase date that matters, not delivery date 🙂 !

Got in on one through amazon, can't wait to put it in and see it double performance over my aging 7900gs.
Hope the rebate comes in quickly
