PNY @ newegg now $250AR.

4/2/07: buy.com has the EVGA for $270 - $10 MIR and there is a $15 off $200 coupon out there making it $245AR shipped. :) (There is also $10 for new google checkout users but it can't be used with the $15 coupon).

I got stung by the so called lifetime warranty of PNY. Looks like they stopped their phoney life time to this....

PNY Graphic Card Warranty
*One year (plus an additional 2 years upon completion of a registration form on PNY's website)

Their lifetime was... as long as they are producing the product . Poor business practice.

Great deal though I hate newegg MIRs (I never got my last one back).

Any idea what the 8600 Ultra 512MB will cost? I have been waiting out for that card but I may just have to go with this instead.

Yeah I learned that back when I had a Ti4200 from them. It stopped working and I tried to get it replaced, but it was impossible to contact them as it would always tell me to wait for someone to answer the phone, said I could email them, or leave a message. Then it hung up on me without giving me an email address or actually the ability to leave the message. I couldn't send them an email anyway since my computer wasn't working. When I finally was able to contact them, I'd already bought a new card and the GF FX cards were out, so they told me it's not covered anymore since it's only lifetime of the product. Gay.

There is supposedly a coupon for free shipping (up to $10) at Newegg if you pay via Paypal (I haven't tried it yet). I would personally go for the EVGA 8800GTS for such a small amount more. The stepup program really is worth it.

I've not really seen the point much of the time to the upgrade, since you lose any savings in the original deal as the upgrade is at list price, IIRC.

All you're getting is a nice 'loaner' card for the period until you buy the list price card.

With how hot video cards run these days, for me it was worth the piece of mind to spring for a better warentee.

No, I bought a PNY 6800gt and have been extremely disappointed in PNY. My first card overheated, they sent me my replacement a month and a half later, which came refurbished and without a heatsink. The replacement now idles at 115 celsius (with a room fan on the side of my case with the door removed) and I cannot get a new replacement.

Good card, bad company.

I think CloE was asking about the rebate. I've done one rebate with them (for RAM) and had no problems.

And FWIW I have a 7900gs made by PNY and it's great.

Damn, reading comprehension FTL. In that case I have no idea, my card didn't have one. But the warranty sure isn't.

I'd pay the extra for the eVGA, lifetime warranty and you don't lose your warranty when you OC. Well worth the $6 or $7 IMO. And you get the Step-Up program for the upcoming 8900 series cards.

Plus, IMO, eVGA is just a better company in general than PNY.
