What do you guys think about the PNY cards? Seems like they all have the same cooler for the most part.

From my experience, PNY cards work fine, but don't expect to get anything extra out of them. Neither my 6800Vanilla AGP nor my 7900GS overclock at all without eventually locking. But maybe their 8800s are different (thats what I told myself when I bought the 7900gs ;p).

Well, their 'lifetime' warranty. As I bought into their cards before Ti500 I believe. Its basically, we warranty them as long as we manufacture it (so I was out of luck when my Ti500 died). I think they reverted back to 2 years warranty nowadays. IMO Its better to pay a little more for warranty policy (assuming you keep your video cards for a long time). I also had a eVGA that broke down, 6600GT, and they sent me a 7900GT as a replacement when I RMA'd

I can't imagine anyone owning this card for more than the two year warranty period, but even so, is it really worth $50 more for the EVGA? My last two cards have been PNY and EVGA and they've both been great. The fans on the 8800's all appear to be the same too, so I don't think you have to worry about noise or anything from a "cheaper" card. I'll definitely be getting this PNY for $215 to replace my PNY 7900GS, which is still worth $140 (what I paid last year ;) ).

Per the PNY question, I bought my 6800gt through them. I have never overclocked it. The first one overheated and died. I used the warranty and they sent a refurbished 6800gt without a heatsink. It too overheated and now im out if warranty. Id say this would be hot, if it were another brand.

well, i dunno about you, but my 8800GTX is probably going to have a longer lifetime then a 8800GTS320.. so I rather have one with better warranty :) Maybe my 8800GTX will break down, and they'll send me (EVGA) will send me a 9xxx series when its out? hehe

bunkum...

i just installed a pny 8800gts320 and it's happily running @620/950... what sux is that ntune profiles don't hold the fan settings... and rivatuner don't seem to oc the cards correctly or set the fan... u have to go to ntune each time u want to turn the fan up... with stock hsf running 95% it's pretty quiet and never goes over 75c... these things run hot... i have an evga 8800gts640 that runs that hot stock if u don't manually turn the fan up...

and i've had good oc'ing pny cards since my ti4200 that did 4800 speeds...

and if u register u get 5 year warranty...

this card oc'd as above, ne 3600x2/tforce550 combo, af 64 hsf. supertalent 667 @ 2.85ghz gets 9300 3d06marks and is amazing on a 19in hanspree lcd... cheap gaming monster...

Well, we're talking about a $200 card here, not $600. For $600, yeah it'd better last me the rest of my lifetime, and my kids' too.

And that's exactly the reason I will ony buy eVGA for a mid to high-end video card. As long as they continue doing stuff like that, they've got my business.

They exchanged an AGP card for a PCIExpress card???? Somehow that's hard to believe.

I do agree about PNY being one of the worst companies to deal with in terms of warranty. They screwed me over on a "lifetime warranty" on a Ti4200 that started artifacting - they could have given me a FX5500 or something like that, and I would have been happy, but NOOOO, since they do not make it any more, it's out of warranty. What a joke of a company. Never again will I deal with them or recommend them to anyone... And they did switch to a 2 or 3 year warranty, still pretty bad compared to eVga or BFG.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I had the AGP version, that's why I assumed...
That card was in fact the experiment in adaptation of PCIExpress design to AGP with some sort of bridge. Not too bad for AGP, but pretty low end for PCIExpress.

I'll never buy any PNY products with rebate.
