My friend was telling me how his 6800 and Samsung 710N LCD was blurry using analog. I didn't believe him. I'm using the same PNY 6800 with a Dell 2001FP Digital DVI. I've never had a card with bad 2D quality, even my 1MB Trident PCI is razor sharp with analog. My analog already plugged in clone mode, I switched to analog. And behold, teh blurriness!!!!1!!1
He said it's a widely known issue, and now I'm witnessing it with my own eyes. What is PNY doing about this? POOR QUALITY CONTROL!

You sure it's the card's fault and not the LCD's? I have an LCD monitor, and every video card I've connected in analog mode was blurrier than the DVI connection (AFAIK, that's just a fact of life - increased sharpness is one of the advantages of DVI)

Videocards I've used with my LCD:
PNY 6800 GT (analog slightly blurrier than DVI)
MSI ti4200 (Same)
Albatron fx5200 (same)
onboard graphics (analog only, blurry)

Yes I've used analog mode on my 2001FP for a week on my Matrox Millenium II 4MB and one week on my friend's PNY FX5200, and both were razor sharp - as sharp as my DVI.
Yes I'm sure it's the card's fault, so you're saying my LCD and my friend's LCD and dozens of other people's monitor are at fault?

HappyNic, yes I'm using the native resolution, don't question my n00bness!!!

lol,, noobness? :) but anyways, I was just trying to help, as you didn't post what resolution your display is at in your question,, and instead of assuming I asked. You should never assume when you can just ask and get the correct answer.. By the way what is Clone mode? is that showing the same thing on both LCD? do you have 2 lcd? I didn't install my Pny 6800 yet, forgot to bring it home,, still at friends house. I have the same lcd.

Clone mode is one of the multi-monitor features in the nvidia driver. It will clone the same image on both displays. Since I'm using both outputs on the card, the card thinks I have two monitors, when it's really just two inputs on one monitor.
So clone mode will clone the same output to both inputs.

What I'm saying is that it's completely normal to have a better image with DVI than with the analog connection. Nothing to go on a hissy fit over. Just use the DVI.

What I'm saying is that the analog quality is extremely poor, and has nothing to do with my monitor, and that PNY has very bad QC.
It's not normal for the analog to be completely blurry.
This is just a warning for people going out to buy PNY cards.
You can ignore if it you like, but I'm sure others will use this as a good advice for a brand to avoid when shopping for video cards.

Try a CRT on the analog line or try adjusting the monitor. Many times if you can adjust the monitor properly it'll look almost the same using either analog or DVI. It could be that your monitor sucks on an analog connection.

I have the same problem with the same PNY card and an 18 inch LCD. It looks like TOTAL crap compared to my Ti4400.

Maybe it receives more EMI from the fan without the cover. Although all 6800s use that type of plug, so if that is the case, it should not be a PNY only problem.

Also, many LCD monitors (like my Hyundai Q17) comes with a very thin analog cable that does not provide enough shielding.
My BFG 6800GT's analog is just fine on my 17" Sony CRT and a friend's BFG 6800 looks fine on his 17" HP CRT.

My BFG 6800 analog out was not sharp or clear compared to the analog out on my 9600xt and 9800pro. DVI out on the BFG was great - at least as good as my ATI cards. That suggests to me that they may have DAC issues. I'm not sure about other brands, but some have reported issues. Anyway, I'm now using the DVI output to my 2001FP and have given up on the attempt to use my KVM on the analog side.

my PNY 6800 is blurry too on high resolutions like 1280x1024 no matter what refresh rate. so i had to lower it down to 1152x864 at a lower hertz. dont know the reason for this since my old ti4200 card will display crisp pictures at no matter what resolution and no matter what refresh rate.

also at high resolutions, the picture on my screen constantly jumps slightly; but doesn't happen when i have my screen at a lower resolution.

I e-mailed PNY about an RMA on Monday (like around 12:30AM, as in I was up from Sunday) and still haven't heart anything back. I'm hoping they address this problem by the end of the week or I'm going to raise hell. I already removed the Proof of Purchase from the box so I can't return the damn card, besides which I am 400 miles away from the CompUSA at which it was purchased (and probably a good distance away from any CompUSA from that matter). I guess this is one of those cases in which it really is true: you get what you pay for--shit service and a bad product.
