I happened on this deal at my local Fry's today and bought one. I didn't see it in their newspaper ads, but it may be a response to the similar deal at CompUSA (out of stock in my area). Unfortunately for web shoppers, it looks like Outpost.com is not currently offering this deal.

Heading over to the Bay Area Fry's (Brokaw location) in about 15 minutes. If it's there, I'll pick one up.

Hm... Dunno. I was today at my Frys and went by the videocard section, I didn't see the price, but they had more than half-a-dozen PNY6800s, so I assume they were regularly priced, otherwise there wouldn't be any on the shelves.

There were about 10-12 on the shelf at the Fry's I shopped at - maybe the deal isn't published yet. I just noticed the yellow shelf tag with the sale price.

So you're saying deal is valid? Tuesday marks a new sale day for Frys, maybe it will be in the tuesday cirricula?

It was $299, but did have the $30 rebate... they wouldn't pricematch the Houston deal, so I'll probably try again tomorrow.

It worked for me. The computer I'm composing this on is using the card I bought today for $229.99 + tax and I got a $30 rebate coupon w/my purchase

Fry's has major newspaper ads here (usually 8 pgs) on Fri. valid from Fri-Tue, and one or two pgs on Sat. and Sun. (usually just stuff picked from the Fri. ad and also valid thru Tue). Then there is another smaller ad appearing on Wed. which covers Wed. - Thu. Though I could have missed it, I didn't see this deal published, but maybe, as you suggest, it will appear later. I was just in the store to get a cheap Antec case (on sale for $15 after MIR) and I saw a shelf tag w/this deal as I was walking by the graphics cards.

Heading back to Fry's later this AM to pick up the latest LOTR release... and while I'm there, I'll take another look at the this 6800 and see if it's on sale now for $229.

If it is I'll pick one up. If they let me, I'll pick up two and pass this deal onto someone here on the forums, for those w/ no Fry's close to them... and of course selling it at my cost of course, NOT at a higher price to make a profit.

hey thanks trey. please let me know if they have the sale or not. i went to the fremont fry's last night, but it was just $299 - $30 MIR. I don't feel like going there again unless i can really get it for $199 since fremont is the closest one for me and it's a 40 minute drive. thanks again!

Wasn't a completely wasted trip since I got the LOTR DVD for the wife, but that 6800 still showed up at $299 (-$30 rebate).

I didn't have time to haggle w/ the guy, but I told him it was on sale at another Fry's and he said if I can get ahold of the ad or yellow tag sale price tag, they'd match it. I would of had him call and confirm the sale price at the other location but I was running late for work as it was.

The sale is still good in Houston and they have about 18-20 on the shelf today. The rebate application says it's for purchases 12/10-12/16, but I don't know how long the $229 price is valid.

The Fry's in Wettleton, California has them for $199.99 WITH a 25 dollar rebate! I picked up 2, one for my brother and one for ME!!! I hope they make my deal the deal at all Fry's store locations. I am guessing though that this deal was an attempt to make the sales because here in Wettleton (3 hours north of San Francisco) there aren't many locals who are into the whole technology shin-dig, only the businesses and companies that lie around take interest in Frys. Oh well, good luck and happy hunting. This sale will most likely end sometime soon.

Is this a better dea (performance wise)l than the 6600GT AGP's that seem to be going for aounrd $220?

EDIT - this may be a Houston-only deal because of the two stores about to open in the area. I may got try and check the Fry's here in Austin tomorrow and see if it's a Texas-wide thing.

Some PNY 6800 problems were reported from all over the country after the CompUSA BF sale. Some buyers purchased cards with a capacitor dislodged from the back. I bought 2 from CUSA on BF and both had loose capacitors (C531 to be exact). They were out of stock after I returned the 2nd card, so I had put my purchase on hold until I found this deal. I was relieved to see that the card I got at Fry's has all its parts in their proper places. I hope that others get good ones too.

Bay area fry's have it at 299 - $30 rebate. I was able to persuade for a PM to CompUSA, he was going to call for stock in CompUSa, I told him, if there was stock, I would buy there :p, he laughed and gave me the PM.

The cards seem to be a fresh stock, couldnt unlock the remaining 4 pipes, not sure if next version of rivatuner would do it. Got to wait and see.

Did you get the $200 price or $230 before rebate?

I was hoping on getting the $200 price - rebate, like some of the other frys. Unfortunately, the manager wouldn't go for it. Maybe I'll try again for the Comp USA pm.
