I spoke with Tiger and they said the rebate should sitll apply since the white box still comes with a UPC--they said if PNY doesnt honor it they will credit your account the rebate amount.

I have NEVER seen a UPC code on a white box. Sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. And like jjsole said, TigerDirect would probably never credit you the amount of the rebate.

I was ready to jump on this BUT in my experience, white box = no upc --- no upc = no rebate.
interesting if you click on the 'click here for more information' you get a pny description complete with a picture of a retail box BUT when you add card to your cart it comes up 'white' = too bad - a hot deal turns icy.

I would suggest that you be VERY careful doing business with TigerDirect. Several times I have had issues with them including problems with products being DOA, and problems getting charged the wrong amount for items. Sounds like a good deal for the card, but just be VERY careful when dealing with them.

Would be nice if you delete the sourceid from your link. There are way too many affiliate links posted here and the mods never catch them. :(

Nice deal though. :)

FYI, Even if you survive the Tigerdirect experience and get a functioning card with an UPC be prepared to fight for the rebates. PNY & Parago/Rebateshq.com = systematic rebate denial. The last two PNY memory deal rebates to rebateshq were denied for invalid UPC to a lot of people in the forums and required emailing/faxing/b^tching of all copies of ad, rebate forms, upc, receipt, etc to get them to validate the rebates.

word. tiger direct is bad news.

the last time I ordered a router from them for 50.00, I recieved a semi functional router (no DNS capabilties, so you have to type in the ip address of, for example yahoo, instead of www.yahoo.com) and the invoice said "as is", which was not mentioned on the site. I called up TD and they stated that AS IS could not be negotiated. Be very carefull with these cats.

I just got home and mine was waiting for me at my door. Thanks, Mr. Brown Guy.;)

It is a sealed retail box, not a white box.
Should be no problem with rebate.

Opened to check it out, appears to be the real thing. I will try it out later tonight, or tomorrow to make sure it works.
After all, you never know with Tiger Direct.

Btw, very nice looking card. Shiny silver hs/f on gpu, hs's on ram also.

Dual output. Has vga & dv-i, along with tv-out.

Not too shabby for this price.:)

Deal appears to be dead, but, for anyone who likes the $79 price, compgeeks has it.

I'd rather buy from Tiger Direct than Comp Geeks. CG has horrible RMA service and I had to dispute charges on my CC just to get my $ back. Tiger at least sent me a working refurb and sent it fast and cheap too. wish I could have gotten in on this deal PNY has DVI I believe too...

Just my $.02...

My one experience with TigerDirect was a few years ago when 2x CD-writers were still in the $200 range.

I bought a 2x CD-writer that had a $20 TigerDirect rebate. 6 months passed and the rebate never came. I called them up and a manager credited $20 to my credit card. Then, I kid you not about this, 1 1/2 years later, I receive the $20 CD-writer rebate in the mail. That's a total of 2 years to get the rebate! Well, at least I only ended paying $160 for a 2x CD-writer. LOL! what a deal!

Link for the lazy.
I ordered this MSI card from CompGeeks several weeks ago and have been having problems with it hanging my system. I've tried several different detonator drivers from MSI and nVidia, including the latest. The same system runs a VisionTek GTS-V (from Newegg) normal and OC'ed and does not fail. The problem appears to be heat related. I have done a bunch of things to make the MSI card cooler, I even replaced the heatsink with a Vantec copper VGA heatsink with fan, and it still hangs my system after several hours. I purposely bought this card becase it did not have a fan since I was trying to lower the noise level. I guess I'll have to RMA it.

I just got mine in the mail today too, and yep it was also retail. I have to agree it is a nice card, not something I would expect from what I consider a budget company (PNY). Also, mine is installed and running fine ... and can't beat PNY's lifetime replacement warranty (havent really looked at its details yet though).

Thanks for the heads up jake

PNY is budget company? News to me. Lifetime warranty? That is meaningless because 2 years from now this card will not be worth the shipping charge to send it back for replacement. It is just a marketing trick like lifetime warranties for memory. By the way, have you ever had any video card that needed "repair"?

yeh, you def taking chance on Tiger, I ordered a Geforce2Ti450 PNY from then with a $30 MIR
awhile back and I got the white box too, No UPC, I called them a couple of times and they said some
bs like, its on a sticker in there somewhere, after looking high and low and finding nothing I called again
then they asked me if I had the version with tv out- I said yes-they said that I got "lucky" and that I wasn't
supposed to get that as if that would make me drop my case on the rebate-bah! I then called PNY and left a message
with someone(couldn't ever actually talk to someone) and told them the story and that this deal is borderline fraud and that I would be reporting it o BBB, etc. called tiger again and they said send in rebate anyway b/c PNY is aware of the prob and they will honor it anyways, so I did that, guess what, yup, I got the denial e-mail of course. I then emailed the rebate
company told them the deal and it was listed as $25 instead of $30 also, went throught the whole speil of "this is fraud, calling BBB, etc" with those a-holes, finally after nasty letter I emailed to them I get a $30 check two weeks later, so
moral of that on is *cross fingers, scratch butt, hope for best*
