I just picked some up myself, it's in the sunday ad for best buy. They are on sale for $19.99, then there is a $5 mail-in rebate, which brings the final total to $14.99! Great price, nice Cd's too, work very well for me. =)

Was just at Best Buy last night and they had at least 5 of these things left. So they are keeping them stocked. Not a bad deal.

rigor, yup, these are the 12X rated ones, and on the spindle they say they are their "A" quality ones. They have a light blue bottom.
I'm not quite sure who the rebate is through, but i don't even care, i hate rebates myself, but i thought that even $19.99 was a pretty good price for 12x 700mb discs. :)

PNY is Suck! They are the worst when it comes to Rebates. I sent just one rebate for all the memory rebates they had going (BB, OD, Staples)last year and never receive it. Called them to ask why I never got it...told me that they got my rebate paperworks pass the deadline.:Q What a load of crap...they should be sued like Iomega for the rebate delays and non-payment.:|

FYI:
Best Buy has an unspoken policy that worked for me on several different occasions. If you do not get your rebate in the amount of time specified by the manufacturer, Best Buy will pay you and work on the rebate for themselves. What I always do before I send the rebate in is make a copy of the rebate info (receipt, bar code, etc). Then when the rebate does not show up after the allotted amount of time from the manufacturer. I take it into Best Buy and make my claim with them. They understand that people are burning out on rebates, because of the bad luck people have had. They have a high overhead and that?s the only way they can slash prices. so, they try to keep people interested in the rebates by honoring the rebates themselves. Now, I would probably ask one of the reps at the your local BB to see if they will do this. I don't like seeing people get burned.

Just a though. Hope this helps someone out there!

Well I have had nothing but good results with PNY media. Only problem i saw was that my girl-friend's 7 year old stereo couldn't read them. Of course it has trouble reading Verbatim media also which I consider one of the best when it comes to media.

I don't know a lot about CD-R quality, but I was told that one good indicator of the quality of a CD-R is whether or not you can see through them (i.e.: amount of translucence); I went and bought a spindle of these over lunchtime, and these are INDEED translucent, when held up to a light. They have a silver top side with a little black lettering, and a slightly greenish-goldish tint on the bottom side.

I burned an ISO of Red Hat 6.2 at 8X with no problems on one of them, just to test it out, but I'm a little hesitant to burn anything that I actually intend to keep for a long time--I'm not really confident with the quality of these disks.

They may burn just fine, and for the price, a few coasters won't hurt anything, but when it comes to making backups of my favorite software or music CD's, I think I'll stick to a little better quality, like the TDK or Memorex disks I've used before.
