what happened to the ability to export your private messages? i only see an area to delete them beyond a specified date......
 
Click on the private message icon in the top left corner, and the button next to mark all read is export pm's 🙂

Actually, when I tried exporting my PM's a couple of months ago, they all got deleted off the server and I had an unrecognized file in the folder I downloaded too. Maybe it was a freak accident, but I dont want to take a chance again.

I had this too. it was marked as a .cfm file, but it was really plaintext.
 
once i did the pm export thing w/ the delete msg's option checked, the download failed (server timed out i guess); so i got no file, and all my pm's where gone.... 🙁

this time when i did it, i didn't check the delete msg's option, downloaded the file (it took forever, sloow servers?); once complete i downloaded it a 2nd time under a different file name and had the delete msg option checked.
