can i use TRENDware/TRENDnet 11Mbps Wireless PCI Ethernet Adapter, Model TEW-228PI with Netgear MR814 802.11b Wireless 4-Port Cable/DSL Router?

i know this sounds stupid, but i'm kinda new to networking and they didn't give me a pci card when i bought the router

probably... My netgear cards work with my linksys router. Don't know about that trendware name... I try to stick with brands I recognize. That said 80211b is a standard and compliant parts are supposed to work together.

In most circumstances, any brand network card can work with any other brand of network router...

And just a little more info to toss at you. I would look at getting a 802.11g wireless router. 802.11b is slower (11Mbps compared to 54Mbps) and can connect to any 802.11g Router. But a 802.11g network card can not connect to a 802.11b router. If you have any people coming into your home or wherever with laptops, you might want to get a 802.11g router so they can all connect on it. Not to mention the price between the different routers is usually 0, if you go to www.newegg.com

uh... but it doesn't matter if the person uses other kind of network card rite? i bought the 802.11b already, but it didn't come with any network card, that's why i'm getting a network card and post this thread.
