Plz help, Couple Probs with WinXP

ok first problem: ***FIXED***

I recenty got a KDS RAD5 and now i cannot get my computer to shut down. every time i hit shutdown it just restarts. i had my gatewy 19" on it the week before and it was fine, i haven't changed anything.

second problem:

Can someone take a look at my rig and tell me the maximum settings i can safely run Max Payne? i have to set everything to medium to get things working and i can't use anti-aliasing without it locking up. also could heat be an issue? everytime max payne locks my cpu temp is at about 55 Celsius... is that too high?


third problem:***FIXED, RELATED TO FIRST PROB***

i have adaptec Easy CD creator 4.01. i updated it acording to the website but it keeps doing this refresh thing and won't burn cds at all.


if you need clarifacation on anything to help me plz post in thread and i will update each problm setion accodingly. thx in advance for any help received... btw my brain is on the fritz again so sorry in advance if i don't understand something right away and if this needs to be in another section of AT plz let me know

SECOND PROB:

run windows update and get the compatibility modes one.
run the games in compatibility mode for win2k and if still no go then for 98/Me.

(mas payne is d3d btw)

THIRD PROB:

microsoft has released a patch to fix issues with 3rd party burners in xp. i dont have a link but i have the file on my hd, if ya want it PM me. its only like 300k.

thx for the help, that compatiblity thing seems to have kinda worked. i also had to turn off a bunch of features in Max but it till looks good. on the CDRW i think i had installed he wrong patchthte program because i reinstalled and repatched aneverything is cool. still n clue on the monitor problem though, any suggestions anyone?

Uninstalling Easy CD Creator will take care of the restart problem instantaneously.

When I was having similar problems, I was directed to this page. It worked for me and hopefully will help you too.

If u uninstall EZCDCreator and you lose ur cd drives, there is a MS FIx for that. JLYK.

hey,

looked over th website and i got to say thx very much man all i needed to do was uninstall directcd and my comp shut down fine. it seems everythings is up and running good, Max Payne ran for 2 hours today with no hickups (a lil tearing here and there but i can deal wih that).
