my system is an amd64 3000 newcastle on a msi k8n neo-fsr mobo...i have 1Gb generic ram and an nvidia 6800 vanilla with a 400 watt topower psu...basically i couldn`t get the msi mobo oc`ing utility to work above 3% (due to ram limitations or what), so i`ve set my system to these specs...fsb is 230 Mhz and i`ve upped the voltage to 1.55v...mem multi is 166 and 2.55v with timings 2.5-3-3-7 at 192 Mhz...so my ? is this...can i run this over an extended period without probs to my hardware...

I think the oc'ing guide can help.

Fsb cant be 2300 MHz.

IMHO oc'ing should be done manually, not using automatic oc'ing utilities.
Get prime95 to test stability.

Run SuperPi 32m and see if you get any errors, then run Prime for a few hours. Then you should be OK, at least in my not-so-rigorous OC book. And try to get a correctly configured MBM or Everest to monitor temps while yer at it.

I personally never use Prime 95. My system fails within five minutes, but it can play CS all day. That's stable in my book. Whatever works for you.

When you upped the FSB to 230..did you lower the LDT multiplier to 4x? HTT needs to stay at 1000mhz or less, so if you didn't lower the LDT multi from 5 to 4 you may get some instability.

No, it is good. If all he does is play CS, and his CPU at that clock is fine for it, who the hell cares? If he needs to run 100% load for long periods of time, then he needs to start worrying.

IMO, its not so good to get obssessed with stress tests; after all, its not that we want to perform well in stress tests, we want to perform well in what we actually do. Stress tests are just a good way of determining.

I definitely agree. Having HTT too high (above 2000MHz or 1000MHz 'true' HTT) will result in problems. Usually, if I have the HTT > than, the system posts fine, but will not boot windows/ loop restarts.
