Models? I guess.

So some girl was telling me that any girl that hits a double digit sizing chart is a plus size.

True?

Mostly true. "Plus size" is usually 14 and up, but lately I've seen girls/women who are a size 10 referred to as "plus size."

Sick, if you ask me. A 14 is the average size for women, not plus.

Name someone famous who is a plus sized model.

Kate Winslet, maybe?

Anyone got any ideas?

I don't think any of those people you listed are even close to plus size.

Well, when I was thinking plus-sized, I was thinking those that had a little more meat than Calista Flockhart or Kate Moss. No, I don't want to see pics of so-called "fat women". Why'd you bring it up in the first place? ;)

Gillian Anderson - No. She's about 5'3" and maybe 105 lbs. soaking wet.

Kate Winslet - At one time, yes. Before she got pregnant, she admitted to being a size 12-14, which she was told was plus sized. She always said she was happy with her body, but after she had her baby, she went on a diet to try to get down to a size 8 because she said she was having trouble getting roles because of her weight.

Other examples:

Liv Tyler - her sister is already a plus-sized model for Lane Bryant, but Liv herself is getting close. There was a story I read that said she's about a size 12 now - often considered plus size.

Camryn Manheim - she's openly said she's a size 22.

Emme - a working model who's a size 16.

I'll see if I can find pics of these women.

I believe that Plus-size is a misused term. Some clothing manufacturers say it's 16 or above, Elle magazine will say it's 8 and above.

Down here in Texas, they call it "Chubby Chasin". :D Hey, I'm not too picky. If she's cute, clean-looking and takes care of herself (makeup/nails/etc.) It's on baby!

In our society where most models are a size 0 or smaller, of course any woman over a size 8 is considered plus size. I think that's just wrong. There are size 14, 16, 18, or whatever women out there who are just as beautiful if not more beautiful than some of those anorexic-looking Praying Mantises they have running around on stages now.
