Plumbing couplings help

NetWareHead

THAT guy
I need to join 2 pipes together and understand I need to use some sort of banded coupling to do so, but not sure which one. I've heard of various ones: mission, fernco etc... Some have 2 bands, others have 4. Some clamps are just a rubber sleeve and others have a metal shield.

I need to join a 3 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe to a 3" cast iron pipe (not sure yet if SV or XH). This is for an above ground DWV application (not buried) and will be in an interior wall. Amy suggestions?

I went from vertical 3" sch 40 to 4" inch cast with an "Americanvalve" rubber coupling 2 clamps total. Not a problem nary a drop. I think the metal sleeved couplers are for horizontal applications for added rigidity.
