Hi,

My last system used to do this, but I didn't care... tonight I put together an a64 system for a friend and it does it too.

When you plug in the ac power cord into the power supply when the system is off, the computer turns on. Any ideas? Everything works perfectly, power supply is brand new and is a 450W enermax.

Oh, my new system (using my old power supply) does not do it anymore.

Thanks,
William

Perhaps its BIOS is set to power up after a power failure. Many boards have that option in their BIOS, and you can disable it if you like.

Yep, many bios's will have a 3 options for powerfailure recovery off/on/same (where off is off, on is always turn on, and same is if the machine was on, turn on, if it was off, stay off). I'm guessing yours is set to on.

My old ECS K7AMA used to do that too. Not sure why though. Could've been the restore power after power loss thing or just a crappy board. Also check your power switch jumper on your mobo, probably not a problem but maybe worth a look as it could be plugged in incorrectly

Should be in power management or advanced bios settings.
