Plugged in my 5.1 Creative Speakers

They work in my new system 🙂 which is nice 🙂 - when i tried to play a song through winamp

i have a asus deluxe mobo, that has 5.1 audio built into it.

but when i plug in the 3 audio cables to the back of the mobo(case) and turned on the computer, my video card went crazy one me, it started to do the lines - but then it goes normal - talks about VPA or something like that

and no games load up, they all do the lines across the screen, and then stop, and go back to the desktop

so i unplugged the audio cables, turned on the computer and everything works fine even the games, like nothing happened.

Now i know its interferring with the sound/video

so, what should i do?

probably get a new sound card (for pci slot)

Thanks

and if everything fails

is this a good audio card?

are your speakers very close to your display? the reason for the disturbance could be that the speakers are not shielded, therefore they are interfering with the CRT of your display. try and get some magnetic material like mu-metal, you get it in sheets, and line the insides of the speakers which are close to the crt.
