Plug and Play?

I'm going to be installing this NEC burner on a Win 2k desktop:
18x NEC

Does Win 2k require drivers to be installed for the burner to work, or is it plug and play like WinXP?

I've had an NEC, Samsung, and a BenQ all work PnP in win2k.
