So I have a 19" Samy Widescreen LCD monitor. Because of recent hardware failure I ended up having to reinstall XP Pro. Only things I've loaded so far are mainboard drivers (NForce410) and my vid drivers from Nvidia website for my XFX 7900GS. When I try to use the native resolution for the monitor of 1440x900 I have to pan the desktop to see the whole thing. I've never had to do this previously... If I set to any other res I'm fine... not pan needed. Ive checked all settings on the monitor and even downloaded a driver from the Samsung website and installed that. Just really weird... never seen this before. Help appreciated!!!

Thanks 🙂

I can't believe no one has any idea about this?????? Tonight I'm going to reinstall the vid drivers... but other then that I don't know what else to try. Come on, someone has to have an idea or seen this before!!!!

What version of drivers?
There is a known issue regarding 162.18's and some others resulting in the problem you describe.
When I went from 94.xx to the 162.18's [XP] I had the same problem with 1680x1050, my native res.
If I moved my mouse to the edges the screen moved!
I changed to the nvidia beta's 163.44 for Bioshock and have no more problems.

You didn't install the plug and play portion of the OS fully.

Double check your OS reinstall... without the Plug and play the monitor and video card can't communitcate.
